*FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND*
One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand:
One belonged to him and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
He looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened
at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.
Lord, You said that once I decided to follow You,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed You most You would leave me.
The Lord replied, my precious, precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you
During your times of trial and suffering.
When you see one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you.

This poem was a favorite of my Mom's, and it also became a favorite of mine and my daughter. For one who has great faith in the Lord we all know that no matter how troubled and lonely one can be in their life, God is there and will carry you through. The link below will take you to this poem that was set to music by Christy Lane. I was able to find this and had it taped so that I could play it for my Mom when she was dying and each time it was played there was a smile on her face. For having lost both parents within 4 months, I know God carried me through and from that day forward (18 years ago) I never doubted God's love for me.

*About Me*: I was born and raised in a small fishing village on the most eastern tip of mainland Nova Scotia, Canada. I have 2 older brothers. I was married and have a wonderful son and daughter.
In December, 2004 I moved from Nova Scotia.. a place I will always cherish and call home....to the western part of Canada, Red Deer, Alberta.. where both my children live. It is so very nice to be close to them again.
The first poem that I wrote was for my Mom who was dying in hospital and it was the only way that I could express my true love for her. Its listed here with my poems and its just called Mom if you wish to read it
Dennis was the first poet from this site that I did get to meet and spend time with. This is one of the poems he sent me, just before we got to meet.

Though you may not see me physically
As you live your life today
Just close your eyes and think of me
I won't be far away
If I could make a wish
And have it last forever and a day
I would take you in my arms
And there I'd have you stay
If I could make a wish
Your lips would be on mine
Where I'd slowly sip and savor you
Like only the finest of wine
If I could make a wish
Our bodies would unite
There is nothing more I'd love
Then making love to you all night
If I could make a wish
It would be just you and me
No worries in the world
Just as happy as can be
If I could make a wish
I'd go to the next life time with you
Fore I know that your my soul mate
There is no doubt that this is true
