Lord Send MeShow poetry

I'm here at All Poetry quite by chance... But then, nothing's really just by chance, in the bigger picture of how I view life. So I met an All Poetry member poet, in Kuwait, recently (I didn't know he was a poet at the time), and after we struck up a friendship, he asked me to link here and take a look at some of his work. Well, I thought he wrote just beautifully, and that inspired me to also give it a try. So I'll give a "shout out" to Quellind, for inspiring me.

I was in the habit of expressing myself only occasionally (3 or 4 times in a year) through poetry, and usually did so for someone else (my wife). So it's all new to me, what I am doing here.

I have no favorite, well known poets that I have ever read. But I do remember reading somewhere recently, that "nothing inspires poetry writing, more than poetry reading," or something to that effect. Anyway, I guess that is certainly true of me.

I enjoy the thought it takes, and it is a great way to pass some of the "down time" while I am deployed here in Iraq.

My journal entries

  • Preface It is a biblically-based concept that God will sometimes change the name of a person in order to emphasize something. For example, Abram's name was changed to Abraham, which means, "father of many," and his wife, Sarai, had her name changed to Sarah, which means, "princess." Jacob's name was changed to Is

  • I sat having some meaningful conversation with a close friend last night. And after what seemed to me to have been about 45 minutes, a third person curiously asked us both, "What are you guys talking about?" And then he also added, "You guys have been sitting there for about three hours!" The time had seemed to p

Stand with this one, with weapon in hand.
Drench his spirit, standing on sand.
Be the One that he draws near.
Be the Love that quells his fear.

Be the Lord God, in his midst.
Keep him far from Satan's fits.
Have infinite joy, with eternal gladness.
Be the Answer to his sadness.

Come to Him, Lord. Grace You are bringing.
Come with Your joy, and so come singing.

"The LORD your God in your midst,
    The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing." ~ Zeph. 3:17

Having you ever considered or looked at posting on Triond? I've been posting my poetry there and have found a great supportive community of other poets, writers and readers there. Just been testing the waters here the last month.
