Lillianne GraceShow poetry

My name is Lillianne, but most call me Lily. I actually prefer to read poetry than write it.
I am a 27 years old and live in Portland, Maine. I love to get into the minds of others and
figure out what makes them tick. I am currently studying at the University of Maine to
achieve my masters degree in psychology.

We are the leaves of one branch,
the drops of one sea,
the flowers of one garden.

Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin.
Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these.

The finest emotion of which we are capable is the mystic emotion. Herein lies the germ of
all art and all true science. Anyone to whom this feeling is alien, who is no longer capable of
wonderment and lives in a state of fear is a dead man. To know that what is impenatrable for
us really exists and manifests itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty, whose
gross forms alone are intelligible to our poor faculties - this knowledge, this feeling ... that is
the core of the true religious sentiment. In this sense, and in this sense alone, I rank myself
amoung profoundly religious men.

Nine times out of ten it is over the Bridge of Sighs that we pass the narrow gulf from youth to manhood. That interval is usually marked by an ill placed or disappointed affection. We recover and we find ourselves a new being. The intellect has become hardened by the fire through which it has passed. The mind profits by the wrecks of every passion, and we may measure our road to wisdom by the sorrows we have undergone.

If Columbus had turned back, no one would have blamed him.
Of course, no one would have remembered him either.

''Where there is a will there is a way.'' is an old true saying. He who resolves upon doing a thing, by that very resolution often scales the barriers to it, and secures its achievement. To think we are able, is almost to be so -- to determine upon attainment is frequently attainment itself.

Imagination is more important than knowledge. For while knowledge defines all we currently know and understand, imagination points to all we might yet discover and create.

______________________________________________________________________________________

If one is estranged from oneself, then one is estranged from others too.
If one is out of touch with oneself, then one cannot touch others.
The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend.

I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others,
rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence.

The meaning of life, well keep on asking those difficult questions lol. thank you for commenting on my poem.

Imagination is more important than knowledge. For while knowledge defines all we currently know and understand, imagination points to all we might yet discover and create.

Although I can appreciate your sentiments, but knowledge is truth, there is nothing higher than truth. and it does indeed, as the truth, guide us forwards towards those further truths.

thank you for a very nice experience.
