An old man was walking along a shoreside. Ahead of him he saw a younger man throwning starfish into the sea. The old man ran to the youth and asked, "What are you doing?"

The youth replyed, "If these starfish aren't thrown back into the ocean they'll die."

The old man countered as the youth picked up another staarfish, "But there are millions of starfish along this beach, what your doing can't possibly make a difference."

The youth looked down at the starfish in his hand then tossed into the waves and said, "It made a diference to that one."
