I am Lance (formally known as 'Repent' on here). I like my poems to be different, bizarre and with meaning. Usually my style will vary at time to time. I know most of my poems are short, I know! I prefer short poetry but I do write longer stuff at times.
Currently in my life poetry has been riding my ass. At times I can never get around to writing short stories and screenplays even though I have so many ideas, but I always have time for poetry. When I die I hope my poems will make me seem immortal.
Ironically, when I first got into poetry I was reading long epics like The Odyssey and Dante's The Divine Comedy and poetry from the Romantic period. I used to try to compose my poems to be eloquent and ornate just like in the old days. Now my poems are usually very short and free verse. If you decide to read my poetry I suggest you read my later ones. My older poems aren't as original. Every poet is looking for their own style and I think I'm getting closer to it.
I've noticed that some people believe that some of my poems seem to be unfinished or too short to be completely fleshed out. Some readers are wondering if this is intentional. Yes it is, I love leaving the reader wanting more. Dissappointing people is in my nature
. The reason I do this is because I don't want one resolution, I want many. It's up to the reader's imagination to fill in the blanks. Some of my short pieces appear to be straight to the point. In that case, the question is not what the poem means but how it makes you feel.
I like to write poems about:
Nature
Fantasy
Love
Loneliness
Hopeless romance
Random moments in someone's life
Lunatics
Serial killers
Murder
Philosophy
My dreams
"For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her"
What I dream I had:
Pressed in organdy;
Clothed in crinoline of smoky Burgundy;
Softer than the rain.
I wandered empty streets
Down past the shop displays.
I heard cathedral bells
Tripping down the alley ways,
As I walked on.
And when you ran to me
Your cheeks flushed with the night.
We walked on frosted fields of juniper and lamplight,
I held your hand.
And when I awoke and felt you warm and near,
I kissed your honey hair with my grateful tears.
Oh I love you, girl.
Oh, I love you.
-Simon & Garfunkel
"Crystal Ship"
Before you slip into unconsciousness
I'd like to have another kiss
Another flashing chance at bliss
Another kiss, another kiss.
The days are bright and filled with pain
Enclose me in your gentle rain
The time you ran was too insane
We'll meet again, we'll meet again.
Oh tell me where your freedom lies
the streets are fields that never die
deliver me from reasons why
you'd rather cry, I'd rather fly
The Crystal Ship is being filled
A thousand girls, a thousand thrills
A million ways to spend your time
when we get back, I'll drop a line.
-The Doors
Indians scattered on dawn's highway
bleeding
Ghosts crowd the young child's
fragile eggshell mind

Celinda Luna : Welcome To Doors Fandemonium! on February 23My personal welcome to you for joining the group. Anyone who lists The Crystal Ship on their page is spectacularly cool in my book. It's one of my all time favorite Doors songs. The one that started my lifelong adoration. Again, welcome!
