Bum-bum-bummmm...

I've been writing poems since I was twelve, sharing them since about thirteen. After trifling through many systems of sorting, handling, and eventually (because it is only safe and necessary) emitting emotions, this method has proven itself most effective. And, well, I mean I do love it. My style is generally free verse, often fictional narrative, but a reflection of myself--flexible... or indecisive... it's probably safe to say she has mood swings, as well! Probably more like mood fluxes! Anyway, please don't take my poetry at face value. Just because it's a nice story that does not mean it is only a nice story. There is deeper meaning. If you don't feel like looking for it, I won't be offended to hear you don't like my writing. However, please don't tell me it's not poetry because I don't simply string metaphors together and hand you the point on a chinette plate. And, I do know how to write in forms/have and are capable of doing so, but simply do not on a regular basis. I enjoy other people's form poetry!

Doo-doo-doooo....

Me? I'm twenty. I'm a creative writing major. I am an oxymoron.
I'm not afraid to change my mind.
There are lots of various sides to me/my personality/life. Sometimes they spar.
I love the color green... life, growth, change... they are all very important to me. Plus, it's pretty!
I'm loyal. Ridiculously so.
I love impetuosity, chaos, randomness, surprises, split-second decisions, improvisation, and never knowing what to expect next.
I hate roses.
I love school. Wait, let me rephrase that. I LOVE school!!!
I like being challenged and thrive under pressure.
Coffee=good mood.

I fell once.

And, though I'd never tell anyone, perhaps to this day, it hurt like hell.

So, if you're looking for something in common, there it is.

We all run, we all trip, we all skin our knees and swear no one's felt this pain. Then, some of us grow up and some of us sit on the sidewalk clinging our knees to our chest in tears.

So, whether I trip over your pathetic pile of self-pity or brush shoulders crossing a busy street at noon, there it is.

Dashboard Confessional... "The Brilliant Dance"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

So this is odd,
the painful realization that has all gone wrong.
And nobody cares at all,
and nobody cares at all.

So you buried all your lover's clothes
and burned the letters lover wrote,
but it doesn't make it any better.
Does it make it any better?
And the plaster dented from your fist
in the hall where you had your first kiss
reminds you that the memories will fade.

So this is strange,
our sidestepping has come to be a brilliant dance
where nobody leads at all,
where nobody leads at all.

And the picture frames are facing down
and the ringing from this empty sound
is deafening and keeping you from sleep.
And breathing is a foreign task
and thinking's just too much to ask
and you're measuring your minutes by a clock that's blinking eights.

This is incredible.
Starving, insatiable,
yes, this is love for the first time.
Well you'd like to think that you were invincible.
Yeah, well weren't we all once before we felt loss for the first time?
Well this is the last time.

~ Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers; pray for powers equal to your tasks ~

~ The thing about life is that you must survive. Life is going to be difficult, and dreadful things will happen. What you do is to move along, get on with it, and be tough. Not in the sense of being mean to others, but being tough with youself and making a deadly effort not to be defeated.~ -Katharine Houghtin Hepburn 1907-2003~

~A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.~ Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)~

~"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. ~Happiness is not a tangible thing, it's a byproduct--a byproduct of achievement. Achievement must be made against the possibility of failure, against the risk of defeat. It is no achievement to walk a tightrope laid flat on the floor. Where there is no risk, there can be no pride in achievement, and consequently, no happiness.~ Ray Kroc

[ The Thrills -- "Our Wasted Lives" ]

Hey kids,
There's no romance in fate
You'll go far

Because all the one night stands
Could be within your hands

Here comes the hard sell from the top:
Used to sleep walk but I woke up
Felt emptier than a suburban swimming pool in the fall

Wait. I noticed today I've let years slip by. I don't know why.

It's not like I've got time on my side
It's not like I've got time on my side
Who will testify
For our wasted lives

Hey kids,
You've been type cast all your lives
but no more.

Guardian angels
should be ashamed of themselves

Here comes the hard sell from the top:
Lose faith in fate
