I love this poem, it just says so much to me, I am not really a Dean Koontz fan but I read this and had to keep a copy of it.
The sky is deep, the sky is dark,
The light of stars is so damn stark.
When I look up, I fill with fear.
If all we have is what lies here,
This lonely world, this troubled place,
Them cold dead stars and empty space…
Well, I see no reason to preserve,
No reason to laugh or shed a tear,
No reason to sleep or ever wake,
No promises to keep, and none to make.
And so at night I still raise my eyes
To study the clear but mysterious skies
That arch above us, as cold as stone, are we alone?

EyesOfAnother on August 4, 2003You have a real talent.... I am amazed, reading through each of your poems.... I am so carefully trying to consider how you were feeling when you wrote them.... I noticed different time periods in your poems.... Happy and love poems all in a certain time and sad and depressing poems in others.... I can see you have had a lot of struggles in your life and a lot of positive events as well.... What a beautiful little girl you have here, she seems like a real delight....
