Well, I've been a part of allpoetry.com for only about 1 week and needless to say I'm hooked.
Ihave written lots of short stories and some song lyrics in the past but poetry is fairly new territory.
I like to rhyme but will try to just free write. I guess since poetry is an art, there really isn't a wrong or right way to do it.
As far as my lyrical content goes, I'm all over the place. I like to write about Revolution and Anarchy, then turn around and write something spiritual or a love piece.
As far as favorite poets or fave authors, I really get most of my inspiration from musicians and song lyrics. I have read some very awesome stuff on this site though. I'll make mention of those when I become more familiar with the artists themselves.
I am a huge rock music fan and love all kinds of rock-metal, punk, classic rock, 80's new wave, etc.
I have had the pleasure of growing up in a time where I experienced several styles of music and lyrical styles.from disco-(Yea I owned a silk shirt and platform shoes in jr, high school)New wave-(I may have worn a pair of chute pants and the black Ric Ocacek-Cars glasses)Heavy Metal(I have pictures of myself with big ratted up hair, leather trench, and jewelry and spandex)I went through the whole seattle grunge scene and actually worked as a roadie for a grunge band in dallas TX. I could go on & on...
I promise to always try to contribute in a positive manner as I submit my work. I will refrain from too much negativity unless I lyrically stand for a righteous cause. (or against an unrighteous one)
I like to read true crime stories like Ann Rule, I also like to read bios, mostly bout musicians and oddly famous or infamous people.
