If My Soul Had A Face
````````````````
If my soul had a face…it would be the summation of my words…the span of my experiences…the living of my life. From pure angst to desperate love to blurred emptiness to life-changing punishment to my novel. If my soul had a face, it would be…simply me.
My Imaginary Book Of Poetry
````````````````
My imaginary book of poetry is titled “If My Soul Had A Face.” It is not waiting to be published, it is waiting to be compiled to present day and then to grow for the rest of my life…as well as to be read by those close to me and fellow writers.

My Writing History
````````````````
I started writing stories when I was eleven. As my vocabulary grew and my thoughts developed, two things alone were constant: 1) having big plans; 2) being unable to finish anything. I always aimed to write novels, and though I wrote constantly, the only things I ever finished were school assignments, and even then I asked: What next? What more?
From the start I was a prose writer, but in my Freshman year of High School, I became a little bit more. From December 2005 to January 2006 mark the birth of my personal poetry (that has not been forgotten and lost to time). In November of ’06, that spark was rekindled with laments over the love of a friend.
I remember little of the time after Christmas of ’06, before April 21st of ’07, which is why that day was able to be so life-changing—or, at least, the start of the epiphany. Then, late August ’07 I took a break from hardcore poetry writing for the birth of my novel, whose first draft was finished June 8th ’08.
Now, July 12th of ’08 and on, I am back to regain balance, compile my poetic works, and continue to find myself in words and world. I evolve and improve as a writer and a person, and I am grateful for all that I have, prodigy or not.
The Poet In Me
````````````````
I write wholly for myself. Both my nature and my drug, writing is a part of who I am. My poetry snapshots emotions I do not wish to lose, experiences I need to outgrow, observations I have on the world around me, pieces of myself I need to preserve, and wishes to look back on accomplished. I try to give everything I write multiple layers and flexible meanings.
Writing serves as my very healthy and constructive outlet. Because of it, I am a very happy person who is making each moment superior to every moment that came before. It is not, however, intended to preach, or endorse nonsense about how I have been wronged, how those who hurt me are evil, how they should be destroyed for what they did, or how I should be pitied and defended. That is not the person I am, that is not how I think or believe, no matter what my poetry says.
Some general comments on my poetry have been: “…though your poems are not lyrical, they are full of emotion and feeling and reality that make them good.” & “…[your poetry] was good. You did an excellent job of conveying the different emotions and trains of thought behind each of [the poems].”
On the flipside, poetry is not my strength. It is not intended for perfection or greatness; I accept that this is not what I do best. My poetry is not always good. It isn’t even always decent. On occasion, a gem pops out, but the quality of my words are not what matter most to me (though of course I don’t want to make them horrible, and I do edit them and all). I write because I love to write, to read it back and grow as a person, as well as to read the works of others and enjoy the experience. I do not need feedback and response, for I consider my poetry to be my journal, and yet I do wish to share my works with others. It is good to see that strangers and friends can like my poetry too. There is no better feeling than sharing the words of your soul with another and finding that your beauty is not only for yourself—and that it is always there, whether you can see it or not.

Just Me
````````````````
My name is Madeline. I am 17 years old. I am going to be a Senior in September. I am not fond of where I live. I am 17/32nds Native American. I am bisexual. I want to be an author and a mother when I grow up. I idolize my mother, Stephenie Meyer, Amy Lee, my father, my surrogate older brother, and several of my most recent teachers. I am a...decent, open-minded, literate, writer, liver, student, reader, fangirl, talker, debator, explorer...I have written a ton of poetry and a very long novel I now have to edit. Check out my website for details, and links to my blog and MySpace, Gaia, and so on.
Disclaimer
````````````````
In my writing, I often amplify situations and exaggerate truths. My emotions guide me to extremes in the moment. I glorify and demonize, but that does not mean I am right, or even that I agree with what I seem to be saying. In normal conversation, much of my poetry and prose would be dubbed “lies.” I do not claim to be completely truthful. Sometimes I step into another’s shoes. Sometimes there are multiple sides to a story—even in the eyes of a single person. Sometimes anger clouds logic. I do not alter my poems to change their meaning and make them truthful when things change. I simply move on and write new poems. I never discard something I write, for all my words are my children, and I never love one poem more than I love another. In art, it is expression, nothing more. Even when I speak from personal beliefs, it is my opinion, rarely fact, to be taken as seen fit, and all such offshoots are not my responsibility.

AP Family: It is little, but it is good
````````````````
Hetha, my AP mother. A wise, strong, confident, eloquent, and beautiful woman I am proud to know. She has a way with words and people--she has definitely influenced me heavily, just by being herself. For that, I wrote her this: She, My Friend.
Desire, AP older sister. We've known each other since last summer, and that was certainly a time to remember, chatting at midnight so often! She is the sort of person I would love to be when I grow up. For whom I wrote Desire's Dedication. Did I mention she's a phenomenal poet?
Desire: "There are people who can't see past the fly on their nose...I'm happy we are not them!"
Me: "There are people who can't see past the fly on their nose...then there are the people like us who are flying!"
Aurora Ceres, a great friend who has left AP, but whom I hope to know for ages to come. Also for whom I wrote: Goodbye. One of the most talented poets I have ever known.
SilentShadow00, known from The Draft, my best friend, returned to AP at my request, and one of my favorite poets. She wrote The Swan to me & An Ode To Star about me; I wrote Moon's Tale for her novel; and we collaborated on MoonStar: http://allpoetry.com/poem/4497821 / http://allpoetry.com/poem/4497819
Lord Merlynn, my AP father. An amazing, sweet, supportive person and intriguing poet.
Wulfareika, AP older sister. The first of my AP family, and a great find (all thanks to quickies!).
PersuingHappyness, AP "annoying" older cousin. She came to me, and I am glad she did! I hope to get to know her better in the future!
Porcelain Princess, AP niece. She was one of my first favorites, back when her name was...something else. There's a reason for that. I became her aunt by writing this poem for her contest: Mirror, Mirror In My Heart. She is amazing and astounding and shocking--definitely worth checking out.
☼For me, crazy is a loose term. Crazy is when you stare at a pencil and laugh when someone asks you just what you find so interesting about the eraser. Crazy is when you have an hour long sob-fest, then start singing and dancing when your favorite song plays. Crazy is when you do or say a totally random thing, like "do you ever wonder where the eraser bits go?" or start having a thumbwar with yourself (i find that i am a very tough opponent). So if you're crazy, copy this onto your profile.
☼A true friend is someone who will try to answer the "eraser bits" question and have a long conversation about it. A friend is someone who won't say anything when you cry for no reason, but will start sobbing too, just to help you cry. If you have a true friend, copy and paste this on your profile.
☼If you sometimes talk to yourself copy and paste this onto your profile.
☼If you've ever burst out laughing in a quiet room, copy this into your profile.
☼If you're one of those people who get excited when you just see two reveiws, paste this in your profile.
☼If you have ever pushed on a door that said pull or the vise versa copy this into your profile.
☼Every word I write in comments, I mean.
☼I feel bad when all the words I wish to apply to your poem I have used before.
☼Cheap words do not fall from my lips; repeated ones do, for they apply to what I view.
☼I dislike leaving short comments. It feels like a waste.
☼Anyone willing to take time to read my profile and my art is most appreciated.
☼Life overwhelms me; I write it and I live it.
☼I can be scatterbrained, as my friend awaits a reply, I am off reading and cooking...
☼I love as deep as the sea; I yearn for knowledge; I adore new friends.
☼Do not be shy, I am only a tiger to housecats; to creatures of strength, I am but a kitten.
☼I do not possess enough life to read all the poetry I wish.
☼I have so many favorites, each for a reason.
