I am afflicted with a consuming passion for anything word; spoken, written, print media, and the ingenious use of any of these to further the connection between giver and receiver!! Fortunately, I am free of the limits that many place on expression...I may not like or understand their voice but I believe in the sacredness of their right to express it! Having said this, I am greatly injured when someone who professes to be a lover or creator in this realm mangles what I love whether it be punctuation, grammar, or spelling. I liken this to having someone say they are an excellent cook and burning my food or someone saying they can play an instrument and it is out of tune or they keep hitting wrong notes.
As with any vocation, writing takes practice and that constant seeking to expand your knowledge, your ability, and your willingness to push these to new places for you to reach that moment when you know..."Oh my God, now this, this is a beautiful piece." I rarely tell the motivation for my poems..Someone said to me awhile back.."You are trying to force the reader's reaction, their reaction is none of your business. Poems have three lives; the life you give them, the life the reader gives them, and the life time gives them! Let it be."
I believe words have the power to start and stop war; to save or end a life. And to stop hate and start love. Here's to the next Revolution!!!
