What makes humans unique is the ability to use spoken and written language to communicate concepts and perceptions, rather than simply represent actions or objects. Language allows us to present more than our individual ideas. We can use it to make others feel emotions that are not their own. This makes words extremely powerful, and poetry even more so. It also is part of the reason that writing and preserving poetry is extremely important.
I've written poetry for many years. I also tend to take long vacations from writing, so my actual time spent composing is considerably shorter.
When I do feel like writing poetry, words fill my hours from dawn till dusk. Thus I post a great deal in a very short time.
Every aspect of our lives, every wish hope and dream - all are food for thought and expression.
Live fully, love richly, and write often.

Many masks can hide the face
Some of metal, some of lace
Which do you choose for me to wear
I warn you now to beware
Not all faces are so fair
