    Dear Von,
Yes I'm Australian, Brisbane. Thanks for your comments. They are helpful. On re-reading the elegy, I could easily leave out a verse or two -especially the one about the face lift surgeon. Still, I guess I face up to all today's possibilities that glam magazines spoon feed us. I was disconcerted to be asked to write an elegy, not having written many, so today I bought a book called,'Poems for Funerals' and I'm finding it interesting. It's in the bookshops now so you may like to purchase it.I haven't seen a poem there described as an elegy, so perhaps all the poems for funerals are elegies. Any comment?

I visited the haikumonk's page and found it interesting. I'll think on haiku for a while to let it jell. Regards iana.
Does one have to be meditative and mystical to gain the most inspiration for haiku writing? I watched bell ringers recently in Brisbane as theyplayed music and I reckon I could write a haiku about the trance that I found myself in as I listened to the music.
