Like the naked leads the blind, I know I'm selfish, I'm unkind. Sucker love I always find, someone to bruise and leave behind. - Placebo.
My name is Richard (whatever nickname you prefer is great Except Dick), I go to school at Vanier College, and I live in Montreal, Quebec. I have no clue what I want to be (except maybe a fantasy writer), and my life right now is devoted to school and having fun with my friends in every childish way we can think of.
Mostly, my influences come through in what I read and the music I listen to.
Musically, most of my favorite music involves rather abstract lyrics, usually accompanied by some form of alternative rock, though I'm versatile and like a lot of different genres. One huge exception from my liking bands for lyrics would be Muse, who I love mostly for their awesome music and the singer's voice.
My top favorite lyricists are:
David Usher (Moist)
Adam Duritz (Counting Crows)
Ed Kowalczyk (Live[older albums])
Serj Tankian (System of a Down, Serart)
Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer)
Brian Molko (Placebo)
Doug Martsch (Built To Spill)
...and tons more, but those are my absolute favorites.
Then there comes the books I read, and the very few published poets I actually really enjoy. I'm a HUGE fan of the fantasy genre, especially fantasy built on a bigger concept. Some amazing authors in my opinion are:
Piers Anthony (The Incarnations of Immortality series, Firefly). [He's also pretty well known for his Xanth series, which is amusing. He's been my number 1 for a very, very long time.]
Terry Goodkind (The Sword of Truth series). [This man gets a lot of credit too, because he's so good at tying his storylines with the concept of balance, which I've always been a big believer in, and he creates his characters so well!]
Anne Rice (The Vampire Chronicles, The Mayfair Witches, etc). [She's pretty mainstream to fantasy/fiction fans, but she's nonetheless an amazing writer, with stunning characters.]
As for poets, the only ones I'm Really into are John Keats, William Shakespeare at times, and a number of unpublished people I know.
Anyways, if any of you wants to add me on MSN, my email's ace_guy55@hotmail.com, just make sure you either email me who you are or if I'm on explain right away lol.
