CARAVAN OF COMFORT
Indulge a spell
to the author of this well
where I spill ink
that you and I may link
I scrawl and script
in my little crypt
I try to impress
but you keep looking down my dress
Pay attention to the verse
I am hoping to place a curse
so that you may yearn
for another reading return
Have some herbal tea
just please indulge me
my pen is fairly quick
to make it’s prick
Take your sweet time
upon each and every rhyme
I am blessed you’ve read this far
I can count my lucky star!

YET
I read when the notion strikes me
I write when the passion ignites me
I hang out at the local café
and know everyone’s name
I go to bed when I want
I eat at my favorite haunt
I do what makes me happy
and have everything to gain
yet……
I am missing
A hand to reach for mine
A heart to intertwine
A stolen kiss when least expected
and felt it had no choice
A look to make me whole
A scent to mingle with my soul
A simple statement of devotion
that has no control to voice
yet……
I am scared
Of giving up that great book
Of my pen being mistook
Of letting go of my nightly visits
sitting in my favorite chair
Of not seeing three a.m. on my clock
Of worrying what food to stock
Of losing my controlled comfort
to become the other half of a pair
yet……
These wishes in my dreams
can they only be found between the seams
or does such exist that is real
to touch, to taste, to feel
my breath
to steal?
