Literary roots run deep. As a child, my mother would often read Shakespeare to us. You should have seen her trying to describe the "incestuous sheets" in Hamlet, to an inquisitive eight year old. Quite funny!
I have a tendancy to write in "Dr. Suess" style poetry...maybe it's the four kids! Poetry is a new medium for me and it's sooooo addictive. I also enjoy reading the works of others and have run into some very talented people on this site. Lately I'm too busy to do much writing and miss it terribly. Going too long without a creative outlet causes crankiness and irritability. With generally strong and long held opinions on various subjects, it's ironic that my moods change with the Kansas weather. A propencity for dramatics has led to some interesting nicknames like bipolar and Dogmatic...I guess that makes me Dog-manic
In place of cable television I prefer to start trouble and then watch with impish delight. My 7 siblings, with whom I am very close, think me a Yenta! Whatever!
This is my favorite poem of all time...
It was written by William Shakespeare.
"Sigh No More, Ladies..."
(From "Much Ado about Nothing")
Sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more;
Men were deceivers ever;
One foot in sea and one on shore,
To one thing constant never;
Then sigh not so,
But let them go,
And be you blithe and bonny;
Converting all your sounds of woe
Into... Hey nonny, nonny.
Sing no more ditties, sing no mo,
Of dumps so dull and heavy;
The fraud of men was ever so,
Since summer first was leavy.
Then sigh not so,
But let them go,
And be you blithe and bonny,
Converting all your sounds of woe
Into... Hey, nonny, nonny.
