Lessons In Painting Hearts - Poets2Angels
Kneeling in my garden,
lashes dripping upon my daffodils,
I felt your touch upon my shoulder,
without words,
only empathetic glance,
you took my hand
slipping with you into shadow
watching colors fade
to black and white
and my inhibitions flitter away.
Showing me gray,
exhaling pain
from clandestine corners of my mind.
Crimson lips, frail like petals
trembling from fueled fury
never written in love poetry,
covered in white lace and buried
under years of regret,
so, you held the shovel,
brushed the dirt from my wings
and said "life isn't always pretty",
so it is without regret
that I paint my heart upon these pages
since you showed me gray
blooming in the shadows.
