My name is Alyssa, and I am 18. I tend to write whatever flows through my fingers. Often times, I have no idea what I have written until I read it through. But still, I love to write whenever possible. Poetry, stories, essays, any and every type of writing possible. I also love to read, and use my love of words to enhance my own work. I read A LOT. I can rarely be seen without a book in my hands, and ink smudged on my fingers. Can it be that I'm in love with words? Most definitely. I also love singing and acting. When I'm not writing, I can usually be found on the stage, or singing in the hallways. I'm trying to learn band music now too. I'm in the percussion section, which doesn't get as much credit as it deserves. Expanding my musical knowledge is important to me. Even if I only ever learn the triangle. I rock the triangle.
I have been through a lot in my short life, and I draw a lot of inspiration from the dark side of things as a result of this. But I am also an optimist, and refuse to give up. One day, I hope to have my poetry published, and to sing on Broadway. I don't care if I am not known by fifty-million people... I only want to mean something to someone. If you've read all of this, you must have wanted to know something about me. Feel free to message me and ask me anything.
Special shoutout to my AP family!

Cabeze De Vaca on March 10Alyssa, just dropping by to say it was awesome seeing you guys in Beauty and the Beast yesterday! However, now that I am out of that theater I can tell you an honest review. Be warned: the following is an Andy Bernau review, it may seem like compliments on the surface - but there is an insult lurking around every corner.
Overall I must admit, Beauty and the Beast was an expirience. I found myself bewildered by your set, enraptured by your costumes, and at times spellbound by the music... but that is as far as it goes. I am here to say that you guys did gloriously, but if I wasn't there solely to see you - my friends - I would have been very disappointed how my money was spent.
Those lights went down and I could feel my heart start racing in anticipation, as soon as that overature started I shifted in my seat with an expectant "Sweet! Here we go!" I shifted again. Another repeat of a measure, I shifted again. Once more I shifted. Finally, after ten minutes of music and blackness the narration started, but by now I had shifted so far down into a slouching position that I could not see the action on stage - my view obstructed by the opague vission of serene boredom. I guess what I'm trying to say is, ten minutes of darkness and music is no way to begin a high energy production such as this.
BOOM! The lights go up, the beginning number commences. The stage is covered with people, a beautiful set, glorious costumes are all I can see. Your Belle walks on, she's a cute girl (a little plump, as a French woman would have been in those days) with a convincing and animated speaking voice... then she opens her mouth to sing... AGHHHHHHHH! It's not that she has a bad voice, it's that it's not nearly as strong as the character of Belle sould have had.
There is a shining aura of hope however, a glimmer of joy appears in my iris as Gaston walks on. As soon as he talks I can tell this man has a great singing voice. And then it happens, he sings. A thundering storm of bass notes flood the theater, shaking the very core of my vibration nerves. His voice is a bass drum of voices, and every note rattles the walls of the theater.
And now we come to you and the silly girls. Let me start off saying that you guys were the second bigget laugh I had throughout the entirety of the production, second only to Lumiere - and that goes without saying because Shane allows steals the spotlight. However, I was confused. Normally you (I'm refering directly to you now) have this presence, this ability to grab the eye of anyone no matter how small your part is. As always I could hear you above all the others when it came to the musical numbers, but your presence didn't grab me. For this I started wondering, was Alyssa actaully trying to do this play or was she just going with the flow.
THE WOLF SCENE! Dear God with Pasta Hair, child, that was as original as it was dramatic. Even during the fight scene between the Beast and the wolves I found myself laughing my immature ass off. I wouldn't look as those wolves and feel scared, I kinda wanted to go up and start passing out treats. "Okay little doggie, sit! Now roll over! Okay, okay, no jump off that bridge and do the world a favor!"
Choreography: June is a great person, don't get my wrong but I was confused as to if there actually was ANY choreography what-so-ever. Even numbers so perfect as "Be Our Guest" were ruined because the dance numbers didn't fit with the play at all. I mean, if your play was a puzzle and your dances were a piece - your choreographer would be the semi-retarded child trying to jam the cirle shape into the triangle. Any dances were as fluid as concrete, all steps seemed as forced as an acting job by Keanue Reaves, and most of all: this was set in France! Southern American Ho-Down steps do not work in replacement!
Other primaries such as Shane, Ashley, and Stephen did wonderful. They all had their little mistakes, but their entitled to such, their actors. But, perhaps the one thing that I have to make a point of is the little one: Kira. I hate to say this about her, because she is a friend, but her performance felt like a last minute replacement (which it was, but I never should have been able to tell!). Ever since I first worked with Kira I felt this potential radiating off of her, and I must admit that even I felt jealous of what she could become. She's a good singer, child! And yet, every song she sang - EVERY SONG! She was off key. You know I love Kira as a sister, and even with that I found myself wishing that Amelia had stayed on.
But it was definately an expirience, it was well discoursed by all parties, admirably performed to the best of their abilities by all. And in then end, I'm just happy that I got to see you guys. -

Cabeze De Vaca on September 27, 2007Sure we got a plan, a sweet plan, an awesome plan...a plan so freaking awesome, it's like...not completely finished yet.
But yeah, I just recieved an email from John, our Starveling, and he sent me a base root for the human dialogue. I can take that, soop it up a bit, and we're all good from the planning stages. All we need then is to get a few more volunteers, gore effects, and basic costumes and we have ourselves a skit.
But, anyway, peace out
I'll see you on Sunday
