MY MOTTO:
"It is not necessary that you love me; it is only necessary that I love you."

           Picture 7-06

Micah 6:8, "This is the only thing the Lord asks of you, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with your God."

I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't, and die to find out there is.

I was born Syracuse, NY 2/20/20, joined the ARMY before Pearl Harbor, worked as Engineman on RR for 30 years, spent 5 years full-time trailer traveling all over the country. Loved the West and decided Prescott, AZ is one of best places to live.

As of this writing I am 86 years young. I do not consider myself old only in the amount of years I have lived. I thank God for still having an active mind and for having given me the challenges in my life that I hope have made me a better person.

If I neglect to answer a comment I am sorry for I try to thank everyone who makes a comment good or bad.  I like criticism just as much as I do when someone may like what I have written.

I write to please myself. I am pleased if someone likes what I have written.  My writings are very basic. I do not try to impress anyone with poetry that is hard to understand.

Am living in a Senior Retirement Community and still enjoying life. Run a Discussion Class here and keep very active. Love to play cards or anything that challenges my mind. I love people.

I have self-published a book on "The Rules of Marriage" and a book of my Poetry and some writings of over 400 poems.  I never wanted to make any money out of them. They are my gift to life. I made many copies of the book on marriage just to give to young people who I would see in the throes of love. Sometimes I would stop a young couple and tell them to wait right here as I had something for them and then run to my car and get a copy of the book and hand it to them. It still bothers me when I see a marriage fail.

Religion is an important part of my life and also a hobby of mine. I search Ancient Manuscripts, Ancient Religions and Ancient Cultures. Every person has their own belief and all must respect that. To tell others how and what they should believe  bothers me. To believe or not is a right of everyone.

I love all you people on AllPoetry and wish you the best with all of your writings. Just remember that no matter what you write is good for it comes from within your heart. Be glad to take criticism for it will make you write better. If your goal is to get published I wish you well.  To those of you who write sad poems I bleed with you if what you are writing is actually about your life. When I comment on those I just do not know how true it is or if you are just writing a nice poem.  I feel the sadness of what you write as I read some of it.

Having been on AP for some time now I gather that a good percentage of you are very young.  Having lived many years I wish to offer you a little advice.  Be careful with your hearts and who you share it with.  Never let a relationship grow unless it is fully returned. Drop it if it does not blossom the way you want as otherwise you may get hurt.  Never brood too long about a lost love as there are still a lot of people out there who are seeking the same things you are.  Also expect some setbacks in life as these will make you grow. You are all great.  I love you all, both female and male.

              "MY PHILOSOPHY"

         I seek Wisdom,
         Knowledge, Truth, Freedom, and Justice.
         I hunger for Love,
         Peace, Understanding, and Compassion.
         I want to be Honest,
         Patient, Kind, and Humble.

         I wish to serve God
         And my fellow man.
         To treat equal
         And to be treated equal.

         For when I die
         If it can be said
That just one little thing that I have done
To make this world a better place
         By any action of mine,
Then I have justified my existence.

UPDATE  10-06
After 65 years of writing poetry I wanted to share this below poem with those of you who may be interested as it is my favorite of all that I have ever written.  This poem is the way I have tried to live my life even though I have made many mistakes in doing so and have had my share of trials.  I just hope that these things have made me grow and to be more understanding of others.  By trying to live this way I feel that I have been more than Blessed.  At the same time I have also learned to have a happy outlook no matter what life has handed me.

"THERE ARE BLOSSOMS IN MY GARDEN"    6-8-97

There's a garden in my heart,
I can smell the blossoms there
As I face life with a smile
         Without a doubt or care.

For the blossoms that I smell
Are all the good I try to give
To those who are around me
And to show others how I live.

I try to live by giving
To all of those in need,
I try hard to be humble
And not to let my ego feed.

I want to share my garden
         Which God has given me,
         So that everyone can also
         Smell the blossoms given free.

You can also plant your garden
         And smell the blossoms too,
You only need to find the love
         That dwells inside of you.

What and who I am is not so much me, as it is my loving parents who raised their children to care and do for others.  They taught us that when you are in service to mankind that you are in service to God.  So in spite of often straying from these principles, somehow a slight nudge from my Guarding Angel always brought me back.  I have given much time in trying to help others, in doing prison counseling and was a trained social worker on a telephone hot line for people in trouble.  I know of nothing more rewarding than helping others. It makes one’s life feel worth while.

I have lived in a different age than the young ones of today, so I try to give them as much encouragement as I can as I see the many problems they are facing in a world that seems to have lost so many important values that were considered important in the past.  Yet, I am duly impressed when I read the poetry of some of them as I see the maturity in which they write.

Name is Bill.  Not looking for a lot of mail but if one should need to write…

Nuff said. I leave wishing you all the best of luck with your poetry and hope you get it published if that is your desire.  I give anyone the right to copy anything I have written.  I always sign off either

Hi Bill and I am so sorry that you have been ill these past few weeks, with an awful viral bug. Too many of them around at this time of year hey. Thank you kindly for answering my comments on your poem and for your encouraging comments on mine. I agree, we do seem to write in the same style and with the same messages. I sure hope with all my heart and soul that you are getting stronger and hope to see some new posts from you soon. Love, hugs and blessings. Marilyn

Hi again dear friend. thought that I would just send you one of my poems for your comments, as I beleive that you and I are like thinkers!!!

    Always & Never

Always be gentle, compassionate and kind
With an open, receptive, non-judgmental mind
Always be honest, loyal and fair
With a willingness to listen and show that you care

Never be cruel, malicious or crude
And don’t be obscene, profane or just rude
Never be arrogant, conceited or vain
Nor treat others with derision, aggression, disdain

Always be ethical, moral and true
Be cordial, sincere and always be you
Try to be dignified, noble and real
And try to show others, just how you feel

Never be selfish, or unwilling to share
Try not to discern, be unjust or compare
Keep true your integrity, and in what you believe
And don’t be manipulative or try to deceive

Try to remain rational, logical and sane
And try very hard not to grouch or complain
Try not to panic when things turn out wrong
Just try to be calm and try hard to be strong

Never give up, when you think it’s the end
There may be a solution, just round the bend
Always be courteous and give others their due
And do unto others, as you would have them do unto you

    Love, hugs and blessings
    Marilyn
