My name is Gillian.
I'm 22.
I am a virgo which I think is the best star sign to have been born under.
I live in Waterford City, Ireland.
I currently don't have a job and try to dedicate my time to writing but I keep getting distracted by all and everything that happens around me.
Maybe it's just inspiration!!
I have a degree in English, Media & Cultural Studies...hmmmm.
I really love and appreciate poetry...
Good poetry.
Brioche makes me happy.
Daire makes me happier.But he'll never be brioche.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when people say or write "I would of..." instead of "I would've..." or " I would have...".
I also like,amongst others, Wendy Cope, Emily Dickinson, Patrick Kavanagh,certain periods of Yeats' career,Emerson,Whitman,T.S. Eliot,Beckett,Poppy Z. Brite,Clive Barker,some Flann O'Brien,a bit of James Joyce every now and again (mostly when I can't sleep),lately I like Murakami quite a bit,Dylan Thomas,Sartre gets me going,Baudrillard had some good thoughts,Althusser made me anxious and I will never get enough of Beat Literature.
The three books which I found to be life affirming and believe that every person should read are : The Dharma Bums by Kerouac; Veronika Decides To Die by Paulo Coehlo & Nausea by Sartre
When I have Fears that I may Cease to Be
When I have fears that I may cease to be
Before my pen has glean'd my teeming brain,
Before high-piled books, in charactery,
Hold like rich garners the full ripen'd grain;
When I behold, upon the night's starr'd face,
Huge cloudy symbols of a high romance,
And think that I may never live to trace
Their shadows, with the magic hand of chance;
And when I feel, fair creature of an hour,
That I shall never look upon thee more,
Never have relish in the faery power
Of unreflecting love;--then on the shore
Of the wide world I stand alone, and think
Till love and fame to nothingness do sink.
Keats
"I write in the only way I can write,& my warped, crabbed and cabinned stuff is not the result of theorising but of pure incapability to express my needless tortuities in any other way." - Dylan Thomas

"And you say you can't stand me when I'm quiet,
and so I shot you in my silence" - Lykke Li

"...it's quite an undertaking to love somebody. You have to have energy, generosity, blindness...There is even a moment, right at the start, where you have to jump across an abyss: if you think about it you don't do it. I know that I shall never jump again" - Sartre
