Hey there interesting person.

For starters, my name is Cori. I am 15 and live in the U.S. I started writing poetry when I was about 7, maybe 8. Currently I love to write poetry and express myself.

 

As previously stated, I am a teenager and so, I forewarn you : Many of my poems can be dark and unhappy. I write what I feel at the moment inspiration hits me. I can't force a poem. Most of my poems so far on this site are sad, but my life has been that way. Lately, I've started to find myself again. I'm not sure what this will mean for my poetry, but I am happier now and maybe I'll get to write some enjoyable poems. Or not.

 

All I can ask of my readers is to keep an open mind. I consider myself a free writer; meaning I'm not weighed down by a certain style or form. I write both free verse and rhyming poems, depending again on how I feel.

Music is a big part of my life and is often inspiration for poetry. I never copy a song and I usually don't even use the same words; sometimes my poem won't even have the same subject as the song I was listening to. But it does help me write, so I would like to dedicate a portion of each of my poems, no matter how hideous, to music in general, but also some of my favorite bands.

I write a lot and I like to focus on posting only my better poems. For every poem I write, I welcome a critical review. I feel that criticism done right is very helpful. So feel free to critque my work. But be weary, I am a very honest person. I don't ever try to be mean when criticizing, but sometimes my words come across as harsh.
