Poetry
My writing is, for the most part, formal. I write in rhyme and meter and I also write lyrics. My inspiration comes, as all inspiration ultimately does, from things I have experienced and seen. But my pieces do not all convey my personal feelings and they often fall into the realm of fantasy. Some might think of me as an "escapist."
As far as free verse goes I agree with Robert Frost who said it was like playing tennis with the nets down. I honestly abhor most free verse and though there are times where I may enjoy a piece for it's imagery, metaphors, concept, message, etc., there is never a time where I do not believe the same would have been immensely better if written with rhyme (with the exception of purposeful blank verse).
Some of my favorite poets (in no particular order) are Edgar Allen Poe, Robert Browning, William Butler Yeats, Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, Shakespeare, John Clare, George Gordon Byron, John Masefield, Thomas Moore, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, A E Housman, and Sir Walter Scott.

Julius Caesar and the Honey-bee
Poring on Caesar's death with earnest eye,
I heard a fretful buzzing on the pane:
"Poor bee!" I cried, "I'll help thee by-and-by";
Then dropped mine eyes upon the page again.
Alas I did not rise; I helped him not:
In the great voice of Roman history
I lost the pleading of the window-bee,
And all his woes and troubles were forgot.
In pity for the mighty chief, who bled
Beside his rival's statue, I delayed
To serve the little insect's present need;
And so he died for lack of human aid.
I could not change the Roman's destiny;
I might have set the honey-maker free.
-Charles Tennyson Turner
Oh, when I was in love with you
OH, when I was in love with you,
Then I was clean and brave,
And miles around the wonder grew
How well did I behave.
And now the fancy passes by,
And nothing will remain,
And miles around they ’ll say that I
Am quite myself again.
-A. E. Housman

QUOTES
"How do you pick of the threads of an old life? How do you go one when in your heart you begin to understand? There is no going back. There are some things that time can not mend, some hurts that go to deep - that have taken hold."
- Frodo (RotK film)
"Nothing is more painful to the human mind than, after the feelings have been worked up by a quick succesion of events, the dead calmness of inaction and certainty which follows and deprives the soul both of hope and fear."
- Frankenstein
"I need not describe the feelings of those whose dearest ties are rent by that most irreparable evil, the void that presents itself to the soul, and the despair that is exhibited on the countenance. It is long before the mind can persuade itself that she whom we saw every day and whose very existance appeared a part of our own, can be departed forever - that the brightness of a loved eye can have been extinguished and the sound of a voice so familiar and dear to the ear can me hushed, never more to be heard."
- Frankenstein
"To die will be an awfully big adventure."
-Peter Pan
"The best thing for being sad... is to learn something. That is the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then - to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the thing for you."
-Merlyn (The Sword in the Stone)
"It is always my policy to look on the bright side, but in order to do this you have to have a bright side to look on..."
-Bertie Wooster (Stiff Upper Lip Jeeves)
"Donkeys live a long time."
-Benjamin (Animal Farm)
"What you call discovery I call rape of the natural world." - Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcom (Jurassic Park)
“Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.” - Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jurassic Park)
