Allpoetry
There are a couple of words that I do not use, “poet” is one of them, as I prefer to reserve this for those who truly are. However, in joining Allpoetry it has awakened something in me, and with the guidance of so many I have persisted in writing some poetry, some prose, some short stories— always eager to learn.
Family
All my life I have taken a keen interest in people and ended in doing what I love – enabling others. I am far from perfect; each day a journey in learning. Much of my learning is gained from three precious persons in my life, Amor, my wife, who has given her life as a Missionary to serve children of South Africa and to encourage development in women— some in the outskirts of rural areas of my country; Seugnet, [see http://allpoetry.com/poem/6527507] my precious eldest daughter [studying toward a degree in education], and my youngest, Hanlie, my soft-hearted, yet ‘group-loving' one [see http://allpoetry.com/poem/4149693] and Biokineticist, currently studying toward her MA degree with research focus: over-weightiness and obesity in children.
Others
I have also grown as a person through contact with those I teach and, especially, those with whom I journey their path toward a post-graduate qualification in Group Dynamics. I also have wonderful loving friends – some of them my former teachers whom I owe much gratitude. My motto is that I cannot be fully me without you! I salute you all!
Self-relations
I have a few academic books to my credit, but my life’s journey of discovering and enabling Growing within yourself is a much treasured book— in a sense, a salutation to the Lord who created me. As an instrument of God, and follower of Jesus Christ, I have been enabled to develop a model to encourage growth within others.
Kreativ
I have through kind assistance from myrataal [aka] of KREATIV brought out my first book of poems. Not having many poems to choose from for this edition, I decided to enter all the poems that I had written over my first 2 months at AP— a keepsake … I will hopefully one day see my growth. Thanks to KREATIVE [Myra and Org]. The title: Firefly Glow is based on an idea from one of my poems and a photo taken of a Cape Town site [Campsbay] during early evening by Tony Clarke [a student of mine] which gave the book its special cover.
AP friends
My heart-felt thanks to many poets on AP that have their given time to provide well-meaning comments, and to those that have encouraged creativity through their contests. Unlike some with so many awards, I have a few of which I am extremely proud! To all of you who ‘walk the poetic way’ with me, I thank you.
Book
The fourth edition of my book: A reader on selected social issues has been updated, and is again in need to revision. Sixteen chapters are devoted to various social problems / issues ranging from family disorganization to environmental issues. For the first time I have presented a poem as an orientation to each chapter, and hope by doing this, to motivate others to 'poem their thoughts and experiences' on social issues, as these not only impact on family life and society as a whole, but also on the life of individuals who journey with us. Workshops
Enjoyable entries onto my life’s path are the a number of workshops I together with Myra Lochner [aka myrataal] present. While I specialize in 'self-empowerment', she in 'endopathy', our models complement one another, and there is true awakening among those that attend these workshops.

Myra is a sensitive angel who knows how to encourage the best in others. It is truly inspiring to work with her. Also read the newspaper article to learn more of the work we do: http://allpoetry.com/poem/4367674

Poems, poetry and friends
I have written almost 600 poems (of differing quality!) and … many more attempts! On 7 July 2007 I placed my first poem on AP under guidance of aka myrataal -- also the first poem I had ever written— at least, that is what I call it. I have tried a number of forms, but enjoy ‘free style’ most, while I have also had a go at pantoum, haibun, haiku and some others.
A number of AP friends have encouraged me by listing me as their favorite. Also from this group friendship has grown. I will always cherish our interactions. There are some with whom I have jntered a deeper friendship via Facebook!
Poetry forms
During my attempts of writing poetry, I have developed three poetry forms— more accidental than due to being an ‘expert’. These are: the Pearlcon, named after my mother who died some years ago; the Isson based on an issue and statement about the issue, and the Finclo, a poem of ‘word-weaving’.
The Pearlcon
A three free style stanza form
Stanza 1: This serves as an orientation (2-3 lines)
Stanza 2: Poses a question related to the orientation (1-2 lines)
Stanza 3: Provides an answer in question form with emphasis on a positive outcome, using either a principle or thought of healing (3-4 lines)
Important:
Here follows an example:
Sundown on Smiles
… and within the dusk of nightfall,
twilight seems to weave a collage of despair.
Why then that when the sun fades
smiles enter into sundown?
Is there not the knowing
that within the composition of dawn
Hope has always been there?

The Isson
The focus is to create a link between self-action and other-action, as indicated in the following poem:
Demise
planted,
buried within life –
the self grows,
towards demise;
Stanza 1: 4 lines
verb
followed by description that denotes two opposites of the verb
a description of the self
with a possible outcome
but, only
when failing
to forget, the self,
in others –
Stanza 2: 4 lines
a reason should be given why this will transpire
linking the self to others
therefore,
those, who forget
human rights,
also forget
their self
Stanza 3: 5 lines
the warning
linked to a social issue
and consequence for self
The Finclo
Stanza 1 and 2 set the scene. There is no syllable count but stanza 1 and 2 should form a progression refrain.
Lines 1 and 2 and lines 3 and 4 of each stanza are used to develop stanza 3. Its content should also offer or portray an outcome. An example is the following:
Life to my heart
His blood dripped,
roses, red -
not unseen, but white
on the petals
of my life.
His wounds flowed
Love, red -
not unfelt, healing
on the hurt
of my heart.
His Love flowed
as blood-dripped red
upon petals of hurt
giving Life to my heart.

Heavy in a good way with loving thoughts of gratitude for the many messages of loving encouragement with prayer in which you graced my grieved heart to read.
Grateful I am to you for checking in on me as you have.
Frans you were right there which such loving compassion when Matthew passed away and it is almost 4 1/2 years already!! Hard to believe, for I feel I have been in a time warp; if you will.
