****For all those in need of a word bank challenge, or are just curious: ****
I invite you to try a little something that I have come up with in case my
immediate muse runs dry: grab a random dictionary and flip to a random page,
then pick a side and look at the page number. If it's over 100, take the first
two digits from the left (e.g.: 213 -> 21) and pick the word that corresponds to
that number (for this example, the 21st word on the page). Or, if you happen to have over 1000 pages, you can use the first three digits, if it still works. This method is best used with a friend; that way, you won't be biased as to what area of the dictionary you flip to...for added fun, you don't even have to tell them what you're doing it for.
I'm sure some of us poets on this site have thought of this before, but have we
done it? Or for those that have, didn't you think it was a bit of a challenge to do?
If you're interested, grab a buddy and have them pick 10-20 words (or a lot more,
if you're feeling in need of a particularly difficult endeavor), then write a poem/
story or start a contest with those words.
...Just a thought and a challenge from a fellow poet. ^_^ If you do partake in this
idea, and feel inclined to do so, send me a link! Though I ask that if you do, please
post what words you found to use (your word bank) in your author notes; it's a
mutual chore - the reader gets to see the broadness and difficulty of the word
bank, and you get to show off your poetic abilities.

Hello everyone! My name's Daniel. I'm currently a student at Clemson University in Clemson, SC. In addition to schoolwork and other activities, I like to write poetry every now and then. When I write, I try to put a lot of passion into my writing, giving me the best output I can possibly come up with. It is a joy to do, and I am pleased with putting them here for others to read and enjoy.

For those of you on this site that enjoy reading what I have provided thus far, I look forward to supplying more works for you all to read and critique...and I really do appreciate EVERY comment I get. These are works that I create by my own hand, with a sharp mind, and a deep heart...and it's comforting to know that others like to read them as much as I do. ^_^

For however limited a time, here's my old character sheet, until I no longer participate in the Arena:
Name - Only known as: Flare the Arcphoenix

Race (by technical classification): A.A.H. (Archaeic Angelic Humanoid)

gender: Male

age: 319 (appears 23)

Abilities (general): Able to control the element of fire, has fire-based attacks / beam slashes, as well as healing capabilities.

Note: skilled with one/two-handed swords and spears/glaives.

Other notes: The ability to transform into a fiery-winged knight (The Arcphoenix, per se)

Alignment: Good

:: Description of character ::

hair: Brown with red strand over left eye

Eyes: Dark blue, though at times turn a fiery red

Dominant Hand: Left

Clothing: red tunic with loose-fitted swordsman's breeches, or red and gold plate mail

Weapons: claymore, extendable glaive, spear, kite shield, buckler, and just about anything that can be deemed as a weapon in the environment
NOTE::His wings (when donned), though light enough to maneuver with agility and speed, can also be used as a heavy-duty magical shield due to phoenix-feather/ethereal composition.

Magic: Known magic attacks are limited to Burst Flame [a.k.a.: Burst Flare], Blast Precinct, P.S. (Phoenix Shadow), Fire Crescent [single/multi], Shining Pillar, and Glint Ray. More to be discovered. {Descriptions implemented only upon use in battle for spoiler lack/strategic reasons, unless otherwise forbidden...those who know the techniques from previous battles have a slight advantage for knowing what's coming, all else can think about the names.}

Personality: The typical chivalrous personality - rarely rude (unless joking); kind, gentle, caring person. Will sacrifice own life to save a friend in desperate need. Strategic thinker; talks (generally) only after careful thought in a battle situation. Infamous for barely escaping the jaws of defeat.

Background history: Was once a major player in the original Kinslayer Wars. Inherited the Phoenix Shard, allowing him to share the same powers as the the late Seth Roen-ken, his father. At first a mercenary, he fought alongside his brothers-in-arms, Gale and Void, whom he grew up with (once the three joined forces against the true threat, NeoShinra), but aside from these few details not much is known about his past. Continues to roam the world, ready to fight when the times comes again.
