INVITATION
If you are a dreamer, come in,
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer...
If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire
For we have some flax-golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!
~Shel Silverstein
My current fascination: Joe Wright's motion picture interpretation of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice"
Hey everybody! I'm a pretty down-to-earth type of gal. I like oldies, country, and Christian rock music and stories that are so happy they make you hate the characters because you wish your life was just like that. I'm motivated by nature, and I have a fascination with mythology (especially Greek and Atlantian) and astronomy. I don't usually write rhyming poetry, but sometimes (usually in other people's poetry) it fits pretty well. I get teased a lot from my friends in other states cause they think all Nebraska is, is corn fields and cows, and...... well, ok, that's mostly true but we've got civilization too.
As I stated above, I love country music but there are some awesome Christian singers whom I love as well, such as Jennifer Knapp. If you haven't listened to any of her songs, check her out! Her voice is awesome and her lyrics are so poetic, it's just fantastic. My favorite song by her is called Faithful to Me:
All the chisels I've dulled carving idols of stone
That have crumbled like sand 'neath the waves.
I've recklessly built all my dreams in the sand
Just to watch them all wash away.
Chorus:
Through another day, another trial
Another chance to reconcile
To One who sees past all I see
Reaching out my weary hand
I pray that You'd understand
You're the only One who's faithful to me
All the pennies I've wasted in my wishing well
I have thrown like stones to the sea
I have cast my lots, dropped my guard, searched aimlessly
For a faith to be faithful to me
By the way, she writes all of her own lyrics and music. I love her music. Another singer I like is Chris Rice. His song, 'What if Cartoons got Saved,' is hilarious. I could listen to it all day and never stop laughing.
