Ascent
I endeavored to inhale
each ambered shade
that blesses newborn dawn
(‘till soul arose
far above torn cloaks
of earthen greys and muddled love)
and found in freedom’s updraft,
that every color
laid upon morning’s wind
was a perfect yet fleeting dream
