If we admit that human life can be ruled by reason, then all possibility of life is destroyed. Christopher McCandless in Into The Wild

Before anything else is said, I am a Christian. I know that most proclaimed Christians have made the rest of us look bad. However, I truly pray you can look beyond the bad and see that most of us are really sincere in our beliefs, and not just the ones that suit us at the time.

I try to not judge other groups, and I just ask for the same consideration. I do not like Christian-bashing, but I do support your ability to do so, if you feel the need. I do not have to read it nor listen to it, but it is your right. But I wonder, do I have the right to bash blacks, poor people, atheists, blonds, Democrats, stupid people, homosexuals, or any other group of people? I guess by the standards of Christian-bashers, I do. Fortunately for me, I try to not exercise that right if, indeed, I have it. I do not truly believe that I do. No one has the right to belittle anyone else.

I am not a stupid, blind, ignorant person because I believe something you do not. It is my right to believe what I choose to believe as much as it is your right to deny that belief. We should just be civil about it.

Now, if you can live with this, read on. You will find that few of my poems actually touch on my faith. Many of them are just inspiring; you can draw your own conclusions. Some are funny and some depressing. There are quite a few on nature. What you will not find is anything making fun of anyone. Life is too short to spend it embroiled in disputes with others over things that are all too evident. And, it gains me no collateral for the afterlife to continue any "discussion" after the arguments begin circling the wagons.

I speak English. That is as much as I am saying on that subject. Spanglish is my second language, with a healthy dose of Kidspeak thrown in. This is necessary for dealing with toddlers and teenagers. Neither say what the mean, and you need to translate everything they do say.

Thought for the moment:

"Spelling and grammar on the internet are akin to personal hygiene and clothing in physical space. If you want people to give your words due consideration, spelling them correctly would be wise." Kemayo at Ficwad.com

PETA: People Eating Tasty Animals

Just some funnies I recently read:

It doesn't matter what party you belong to - this is absolutely hilarious.
Just watched a show on Canadian TV. There was a black comedian who said he misses Bill Clinton.
"Yep, that's right - I miss Bill Clinton! He was the closest thing we ever got to having a black man as President.
Number 1 - He played the sax.
Number 2 - He smoked weed.
Number 3 - He had his way with ugly white women.

Even now? Look at him... his wife works, and he don't! And, he gets a check from the government every month.

Manufacturers announced today that they will be stocking America's shelves this week with "Clinton Soup," in honor of one of the nations' most distinguished men. It consists primarily of a weenie in hot water.

Chrysler Corporation is adding a new car to its line to honor Bill Clinton. The Dodge Drafter will be built in Canada.

When asked what he thought about foreign affairs, Clinton replied, "I don't know, I never had one."

American Indians nicknamed Bill Clinton "Walking Eagle" because he is so full of crap he can't fly.

Clinton lacked only three things to become one of America's finest leaders: integrity, vision, wisdom.

Clinton was doing the work of three men: Larry, Curly and Moe.

The Clinton revised judicial oath: "I solemnly swear to tell the truth as I know it, the whole truth as I believe it to be, and nothing but what I think you need to know."

Clinton will be recorded in history as the only President to do Hanky Panky between Bushes."

THIS IS ME:

I am. I am a musician. I am a singer. I am a parent. I would like to be a poet. A writer. Someone who makes a difference. But above all, I am.

I write. I do not write for money, or fame, or any other reason, but that the words must be spoken. You will not like all that I write; that is okay with me. You will not agree with all I write; that is also okay. What is not okay is derogatory comments and personal insults. I have experienced both on this site. I will give anyone the respect that they show me. That is just the way to get along. I respect honesty, but not nastiness.

When I give a critique, I try to do so in a manner that will help the writer, not tell them what a worthless thing they have written. That is not critiquing; it is just venting your own frustrations. There is an old adage: if you cannot say ANYTHING good, say nothing at all. I take this very seriously. I have found a few here that I just cannot find anything good about their writing. They will never know it, because I will never tell them.

Just remember: Albert Einstein was considered an idiot when in school. And, Walt Disney was told he had no talent for drawing. Only a fool would tell someone they have no talent for anything.

Here are a few poets that I have found here that have had an impact on my writing or me, for good or bad. Thank you. I treasure every lesson learned.

The Good:

masterblaster-who writes with beauty

artis-I do not always agree with him, but he has convictions. And, I like his humorous stuff.

Outrageous-Not sure what her name is this week, but always a delight.

PoeticMuse-just inspiring.

quietly burning-quietly inspiring.

galfalfa-your humour is the baddest-and I enjoy it very much.

aslanlight-just an affirmation that there are nice people.

cosmicrose-can I just like your things?

crowheart-agree to disagree. God will get you, if you believe it. I enjoy our little exchanges.

Since 2004, I have finally blocked my third person. Anyone who knows me know that I dislike this feature; I consider it childish and sophomoric. However, as this person does not like honest critique, and makes personal attacks from behind HIS blocking, I felt I had no choice.

This is the second time I have blocked him, for the same reason. It will probably be permanent this time. Too bad, as some of his stuff was not bad. For his age though, he is just not very mature.

She is my daughter and I never knew what a wicked sense of humour she has. Makes my stuff look tame. I should have paid more attention to what she was doing in high school.
