Hi! My name is Joyce, and as you see my best friend is Coco. He is my child, and he is better behaved than any human child, easy to get along with, no questions asked, he just loves me for the way I am. Because of his extreme amount of patience, the dog is smarter than me. I have no patience.
I am retired from the US Department of State, Washington, D.C. of twenty years. I fondly refer to it as my twenty years in the State Penn. I am also divorced, owned my own home in Maryland, sold it, and recently moved to Cullman Alabama, due to the much lower cost of living, and now own my tiney-weeny house here.
I am a Latter Day Saint and my hobbies are mostly creative from painting, crocheting, sewing, cooking, writing story poems, charcoal, acrylic painting, and whatever might interest me at the moment.
Due to arthritis my gardening has slowed down, and have had to create new ways to dig the stuff. Have had a knee replaced and problems with bursitis and tendonitis. Maybe someone can relate? You know, missery loves company. LOL (:
My father use to tell me that I was related to Edgar Allan Poe, by cousins. His mother was Eva Poe, and her father was Joseph Poe, born and raised in St. George Island, Maryland. I can trace all the way back to a third great grandfather up in Hartford County, just above Baltimore. At that point the trail ends.
I think it is here in this area that I am related by cousins. A lot of records were lost in a church burning in the St. George's Island area. So I don't know if you can see anything in my writings that look anything like Mr. Poe's. He was the father of short stories, I'm not so sure that I am the mother of anything.
My mother's side, I am related to President Hoover, at least my mom use to say that. I don't know how yet, I have not done the research. My concentration is not good, so for me to complete anything is almost impossible.
Being older I have learned to just follow my moods, anything more than that calls for depression, so I would say that I have an artistic temperment. Again, maybe someone can relate?
Because I am so impatient, I love for things to be extremely simple. I don't know anything about classical music but I love listening to it.
When it comes to movies I do love a thriller, like "What Lies Beneath". I don't like horror movies. Of course, I like commedies. Don't like most of what is on TV these days, except The 70's show, TV Land, Monk, Psyche, House, Medium, Gardening shows, Discovering Alabama, Murder She Wrote, History channel, and the British shows, as well as "Keeping up Appearances" and the others on that station, I do like the Public Television; so that must be quite a lot! I guess I do like TV! Wow!
Since moving to Alabama I have become a lover of the NPR radio station out of Birmingham (the only station without a twang, lol) I so enjoy Prarie Home Companion. I wish that I could read more, but I don't. During my less stressed times I do read more,.......(uh?)
I hope to get back to my writing, have had to do a lot of updating to my new home, especially since it is so small, perfect for a one person creator. No one else can fit into this house except me, my Bark, Meow, and Featherly.
Also, I am as poor as a church mouse.

Spiritual Nature on January 6I am so glad that you are on this site. Though I have had the priviledge of having your poems read to me, personally, it is always nice to read them again. I know you will enjoy ALLPOETRY.com and especially, our little group, PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. Keep penning your emotions, you grow with each stroke! Blessings, Doris
