I wish to share what little I can with my words and thoughts to help promote peace in our world. Not just peace in the sense of ending open conflict, but the internal peace one can find through spiritual development. I choose to immerse myself in many cultural polls of knowledge; Zen, Tao, Sufi, the writings of John, the Franscian teachings and many other sources.
It is not one path we walk, but a million. While they are many, we are blessed to know that they all run close enough to touch, to intertwine. It is at those places that we find our strength. We are truely not alone.

I was at a large family gathering recently, watching a televised sporting event with my teen-aged nephew. This young man, who is mentally challenged but quite inquisitive, was asking about some of the weeks top news stories:

aslanlight : Shalom... on January 27, 2007If I was stranded on a desert island all I'd need is the book of John and the words of St Francis in my mind, telling when he was in pain and dying at the end of his life that he no longer cared whether he lived or died. He had arrived!
Also telling his followers to always preach the gospel; using words only when necessary!
Are you a Fransiscan of the first order or the third as a tertiary perhaps? I just go and stay in their hermitage or with them as often as God allows.
Love, light & peace

Icarus-the-Icthyoid on November 10, 2006I formally apologize for the disgustingly feminine comment I am about to write: You are an absolutely amazing artist and I quite aspire to your verbosity and eloquence. Thank you, sir. ^._.^

E A Collins on March 30, 2006I find that poetry lacks the personal exchange of feelings that become honestly cathartic . I have seen too many bury their feelings in private pursuits, finding no true release, only some vague satisfaction likened to scratching on the outside of a cast. Hold in your mind the image of the psychotic in delusional phase who carries around a battered notebook full to capacity with finely written words. Is he gaining anything but a fast approaching pit?
Allowing self-expression is admirable, however self- indulgent embracing of the darker aspects of our lives does little to reward the practitioner. Those who wallow in self destruction and inward pity have a more difficult journey than those who try to grasp the stars. I show perhaps say that I am an advocate of shared poetry as therapy, but only that of a redeemable nature. If one continues to pour tears over the candle of hope, it will eventually be doused.
