I don't like profiles that are filled with dozens of song lyrics. But the first verse of one song and the last of another are good enough that I can't refuse them a place here:
If I had my way
I would move to another lifetime
I'd quit my job
Ride the train through the misty nighttime
I'll be ready when my feet touch ground
Wherever I come down
And if the folks will have me
Then they'll have me
Any world that I'm welcome to
Is better than the one I come from
--Steely Dan (Donald Fagen & Walter Becker), "Any World (That I'm Welcome To)"
All is rhythm, all is unity
I am laughing, as it's meant to be
Just amusing, I am using the
Word was given, making harmony
Moving slowly, dancing aimlessly
Endless circle, turning fearlessly
Resurrected, falling down again
Introspected -- I'm just stating my views
Now you can choose -- what do you feel?
Is it for real...this...time?
--Kansas (Kerry Livgren), "Hopelessly Human"

Keith on October 19, 2004Good choice of favourite poem. A.E. Housman is brilliant. Apart from Blue Remembered Hills, which is really chilling, I think these two deserve looking at.
XIII. When I was one-and-twenty
When I was one-and-twenty
I heard a wise man say,
‘Give crowns and pounds and guineas
But not your heart away;
Give pearls away and rubies
But keep your fancy free.’
But I was one-and-twenty,
No use to talk to me.
When I was one-and-twenty
I heard him say again,
‘The heart out of the bosom
Was never given in vain;
’Tis paid with sighs a plenty
And sold for endless rue.’
And I am two-and-twenty,
And oh, ’tis true, ’tis true.
II. Loveliest of trees, the cherry now
Loveliest of trees, the cherry now
Is hung with bloom along the bough,
And stands about the woodland ride
Wearing white for Eastertide.
Now, of my threescore years and ten,
Twenty will not come again,
And take from seventy springs a score,
It only leaves me fifty more.
And since to look at things in bloom
Fifty springs are little room,
About the woodlands I will go
To see the cherry hung with snow.

Sint on September 26, 2004Thanks a lot for commenting on my "zombies ate my neighbors" poem. It's always good to see somebody who actually gives thoughtful comments on this site. By the way, the game is actually for both platforms (genesis and super nes)

Eliza Simmons on September 1, 2003Hi I read one of your critique on other. I think you are talent in getting awards and ability to critique. Yet the tone in the critique could be softer. I would like you to critique my poems too (all of them if you don't mind, please=)). And you can tear it apart, cause my motto is "yesterday insult, today gain" But for others, I don't know how they are going to take it.
