I have been writing poetry and prose since at least 1982. On the last day of classes before graduating high school, my English teacher told me "Never stop writing."

While I've taken many breaks, I've found that my writing has evolved quite a bit over the years.

In 1986, I enrolled in a poetry class at Texas A&M University. The professor was Dr. Janet McCann. She praised most of my works for the class.

In 1996, I started work for the English Department doing computer support. Dr. McCann (Janet) was still there. She remembered me, and my poetry.

Other faculty, upon reading my emails about changes I was planning to implement in the department, believed me to be a professor -- an upper level, not yet tenured one at that. When they caught sight of me, however, they didn't think I looked old enough: he's a new professor.

They were all shocked to learn that I'd dropped out of college after three years.

Of course, if they ever read my short story "Caller Ten," they wouldn't be too pleased with my assessment of professors!

Oh, don't worry. Read Black Cat, if you need something dark. But don't worry, the darkest is yet to come. Darker even than black.
