"I wonder who first discovered the efficacy of poetry in driving away love!" said Elizabeth impatiently.  "I have been used to consider poetry as the food of love," said Mr.Darcy.  "Of a fine, healthy, stout love it may. Everything nourishes what is strong already.  But if it be only a slight, thin sort of inclination, I am convinced that one good sonnet will starve it entirely away."
From Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice

Be what you would seem to be- or, if you'd like it to be put more simply- Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.  -The Duchess from Alice in Wonderland

Not a flat.  Not an apartment in back.  Not a man's house.  Not a daddy's.  A house all my own.  With my porch and my pillow, and my pretty purple petunias.  My books and my stories.  My two shoes waiting by the bed.  Nobody to shake a stick at.  Nobody's garbage to pick up after.  Only a house quiet as snow, a space for myself to go, clean as paper before the poem.  -From Sandra Cisneros's The House on Mango Street

not really implying to much on that poem, except its a place i like to go to and I essentially end up burning a whole in my wallet every time i go there. Also I tend to try to attatch myself to certain places i go and become apart of it in some cases, that poem reflects those feelings. Same tends to be when I talk of New York City
