Ring the bell that still can ring
forget your perfect offering
there is a crack in everything
that's how the light gets in.

About me:

I am a reflective writer. Whether it's a song, an essay, a blog or a poem, most of my work seems to ride on the waves of introspection. As for my personality, I'm a quiet-natured, growth-oriented idealist. I struggle with fits of melancholy from time to time, but I'm generally an optimistic person.

Though I see myself primarily as a poet, I am also a songwriter. I perform at local venues, and you can find my music on myspace and youtubeCurrently, I attend the University of South Alabama where I'm pursuing degrees in both English and Philosophy. Here on AllPoetry, I used to teach a class on meter that I hope to take up again sometime in the future.

My work has appeared (both online and in print) in publications including Tales of the TalismanOak Bend ReviewPirene's Fountain, and The Oracle. I'm a 2009 Pushcart nominee and an associate editor for the quarterly literary journal Sonnetto Poesia.

AP Comment Policy:

If you ask me for input on one of your poems, I'll probably comply. That being said, please be open to constructive criticism. When I review a poem I typically review it thoroughly, and while I'll never trash anyone's work, if I feel there is room for improvement, I'm going to be honest with you.

In the case that you want a review, make sure to give me the title and link of a specific poem. I'm a fairly busy person; help me out. If you don't have a poem in mind, then go find one and get back to me.

Update:

I'm currently in the brainstorming phase of working up a new curriculum here on AP. If I am permitted to take it up again, the class will be a much evolved version of my old "Mastering Meters" class. I'm hoping, at the very latest, to kick it off by the beginning of next year. When I start drafting lectures, I'll update this page.

After reading some of your poems, the Pushcart isn't a surprise. I would love to have you look at something of mine, maybe Prose Poem or Abacus. Any comments and criticisms welcome. Buff

that photo. I can't decide if you're dwelling on the life cycle of a butterfly or contemplating overthrowing the government.

C'est le sourire qui manque, je pense.

You need to post more poems here.
