For all my repeat visitors; I've mixed up my page a little bit, but everything's still pretty much the same

If you like creepy, scary stories, or if you have read and enjoyed my poem "Doctor Finchley" (also known as "Awakening Enjoyment") please take time to read my short story, "The Secret Tale of Doctor Finchley". It's different than the poem in its setting and other characters, yet still similar in its gruesome plot line. And, yes, it is a rather long short story, but I promise it's grotesque and gory and scary... and well worth the read! I would really like to know what other writers think of it since only family has read it so far!

About myself
I have been writing for around nine or ten years now. I really got into it my senior year of high school when I had one amazing English teacher. I already loved English, but Mrs. Barkus just made it even more amazing and I owe her the world for being the first person to truly admire my writing and art, and for being the first person who told me I would go far in life for it.
I choose not to write in a specific genre or style. But, I do have my own style of writing. I think everyone does. It's what makes each individual poet an artist in their own right no matter the experience of the poet. I like to play around with different techniques, make up my own styles, play with formatting and find the oddest way to express some of the simplest things. I think it's what keeps me most interested in poetry.
Most of my works are on the darker side, though I dabble in "hope" and "nature". However, I love the images that one can conjure with a good dark write and the chill that one can give you. Not to mention the mood that they convey. If I have manipulated a reader's emotion throughout my words then I have done my job, and if a reader has left feeling inspired or enlightened by my words then I am greatly honored to have made an impact in their day or life or whatever the case may be.
My biggest passion in life, however, is visual art. I love drawing and have been since I was 3. I still have photos of me posing with my first ever drawings and I must say I looked like a very proud three year old lol. Beyond poetry my art is truly my life thread and I don't know what I would do if I could never draw again. Probably gnaw down the ends of my fingers to draw in blood... ok not that morbid... but you get the picture
I have a wide variety of interests spanning beyond these two hobbies, but these aer definately my biggest passions... some time in the future I will edit my page to list all my interests again... maybe
I'm generally a kind-hearted person and prefer to give people a fighting chance, but time and again society has proven that humans, as a species, are dumb. Individual people can overcome this... and those are the people I like. My kindness can change instantly if I feel I, or someone I care for, is being attacked unduly... then I'm really not so nice.
Uh... that was long...

The most important people in my life!
TheGothicScorpion: My ever so wonderful fiance who I finally convinced to join the site (hopefully he will decide to post some of the poems he's written for me). Funny, charming, laid back and always making me feel special. There's no one else I'd rather be with. We have so much in common it's scary. Even scarier when he voices what I'm thinking... as I'm thinking it. He's my support and my strength, he lets me cry on his shoulder whenever I need to, he's always there to listen to me, and I know he sees me for me and loves me for who I am and I know it's 100% true. I love him and that will never change. Oh yeah... and I can beat him at air hockey!
~~~~
BloodRedBlueEyes: My lil sister. The insanity that keeps my life sane. She always listens (or at least pretends to) to my work stories. She's one of the few people who's seen me cry, one of the few people who can bring me out of a rotten mood and one of the many people who can put me in a bad one. She's known me her whole life... poor dear... She slaps me back to reality if I fall into a self-pity trip. there's no way you can ever be replaced you're too important and loved. I love you Katie!
~~~~
My other lil sis UnicornSparkleVomit: or something like that... STOP CHANGING YOUR NAME!!! She's important too! My baby sis, the spoiled princess of the family... still. She's cute and she knows it, and THAT'S the problem! But she has her moments when she can keep me sane! Plus she's all emo... poor little thing... looks so pathetic. LMAO @ Annie!!! And may her doggy Crystal Chandelier rest in peace.

I used to have a full family, with cousins and everything... but I left for an extended period of time and when I returned I was practically an orphan

the loon escaped running far and wide
clad all in orange, was hard to hide
stripping stark, revealing pink skin
slipped and fell, cutting his shin
flailing bottom skyward reached
cold nosed hound sniffed, he screeched
rose to run, where shall he hide
barking hound took his pride
so the moral of this story goes
when in the company of hounds, wear some clothes
the loon is on the loose
Sent to me by my Loony Uncle IntimidusRex

John Wayne Never Loses
By: SorrowsSlave... for me after my grandfather's cancer diagnosis... and after I stated, "My Grampa is like John Wayne without the gimpy swagger."
Dogma is irrelevant
Where hope is concerned.
A lifetime's memories
In candles burned.
I see your years
As pictorial palisades
In my minds-eye-
Memorial parades.
But the light yet has
Not faded for the hero
Of this more-than-lifetime fan...
For me the chances equal a hundred to zero
In favor of my time-honored grand-man.
Leathered face is masked
By memory of a gleaming grin.
Candied apple dreams
Devoid of chagrin.
Now that age presents challenge
In modern vile plague;
I feel deeply concerned
That my hope rings vague.
But in love plight fades
And loosens its nooses...
For in this life-game
John Wayne Never Loses.

Favorite poets: Geoffrey Chaucer, T.S. Eliot and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
~~~~~
Hymn To The Night
By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
I heard the trailing garments of the Night
Sweep through her marble halls!
I saw her sable skirts all fringed with light
From celestial walls!
I felt her presence, by it's spell of might
Stop over me from above:
The calm, majestic presence of the Night,
As of the one I love.
I heard the sounds of sorrow and delight,
The manifold, soft chimes,
That fill the haunted chambers of the Night
Like some old poet's rhymes.
From the cool cisterns of the midnight air
My spirit drank repose;
The fountain of perpetual peace flows there,-
From those deep cisterns flows.
O holy Night! from thee I learn to bear
What man has borne before!
Thou layest thy finger on the lips of Care
And they complain no more.
Peace! Peace! Orestes-like I breath this prayer!
Descend with broad-winged flight,
The welcome, the thrice-prayed for, the most fair,
The best-beloved Night!
THE HIPPOPOTAMUS
By: T.S. Eliot
The broad-backed hippopotamus
Rests on his belly in the mud;
Although he seems so firm to us
He is merely flesh and blood.
Flesh-and-blood is weak and frail,
Susceptible to nervous shock;
While the True Church can never fail
For it is based upon a rock.
The hippo's feeble steps may err
In compassing material ends,
While the True Church need never stir
To gather in its dividends.
The 'potamus can never reach
The mango on the mango-tree;
But fruits of pomegranate and peach
Refresh the Church from over sea.
At mating time the hippo's voice
Betrays inflexions hoarse and odd,
But every week we hear rejoice
The Church, at being one with God.
The hippopotamus's day
Is passed in sleep; at night he hunts;
God works in a mysterious way--
The Church can sleep and feed at once.
I saw the 'potamus take wing
Ascending from the damp savannas,
And quiring angels round him sing
The praise of God, in loud hosannas.
Blood of the Lamb shall wash him clean
And him shall heavenly arms enfold,
Among the saints he shall be seen
Performing on a harp of gold.
He shall be washed as white as snow,
By all the martyr'd virgins kist,
While the True Church remains below
Wrapt in the old miasmal mist.
I love the way Eliot mocks the "True Church" in this piece...
Quotes
Quotes are fun... a little snippet of someone's wit or wisdom passed on to others who can then take what meaning they want from them... a good quote can even act as guidance for life... and some are great just for a laugh...
the loon escaped running far and wide
clad all in orange, was hard to hide
stripping stark, revealing pink skin
slipped and fell, cutting his shin
flailing bottom skyward reached
cold nosed hound sniffed, he screeched
rose to run, where shall he hide
barking hound took his pride
so the moral of this story goes
when in the company of hounds, wear some clothes
the loon is on the loose
John Wayne Never Loses
By: SorrowsSlave... for me after my grandfather's cancer diagnosis... and after I stated, "My Grampa is like John Wayne without the gimpy swagger."
Dogma is irrelevant
Where hope is concerned.
A lifetime's memories
In candles burned.
I see your years
As pictorial palisades
In my minds-eye-
Memorial parades.
But the light yet has
Not faded for the hero
Of this more-than-lifetime fan...
For me the chances equal a hundred to zero
In favor of my time-honored grand-man.
Leathered face is masked
By memory of a gleaming grin.
Candied apple dreams
Devoid of chagrin.
Now that age presents challenge
In modern vile plague;
I feel deeply concerned
That my hope rings vague.
But in love plight fades
And loosens its nooses...
For in this life-game
John Wayne Never Loses.
Hymn To The Night
By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
I heard the trailing garments of the Night
Sweep through her marble halls!
I saw her sable skirts all fringed with light
From celestial walls!
I felt her presence, by it's spell of might
Stop over me from above:
The calm, majestic presence of the Night,
As of the one I love.
I heard the sounds of sorrow and delight,
The manifold, soft chimes,
That fill the haunted chambers of the Night
Like some old poet's rhymes.
From the cool cisterns of the midnight air
My spirit drank repose;
The fountain of perpetual peace flows there,-
From those deep cisterns flows.
O holy Night! from thee I learn to bear
What man has borne before!
Thou layest thy finger on the lips of Care
And they complain no more.
Peace! Peace! Orestes-like I breath this prayer!
Descend with broad-winged flight,
The welcome, the thrice-prayed for, the most fair,
The best-beloved Night!
THE HIPPOPOTAMUS
By: T.S. Eliot
The broad-backed hippopotamus
Rests on his belly in the mud;
Although he seems so firm to us
He is merely flesh and blood.
Flesh-and-blood is weak and frail,
Susceptible to nervous shock;
While the True Church can never fail
For it is based upon a rock.
The hippo's feeble steps may err
In compassing material ends,
While the True Church need never stir
To gather in its dividends.
The 'potamus can never reach
The mango on the mango-tree;
But fruits of pomegranate and peach
Refresh the Church from over sea.
At mating time the hippo's voice
Betrays inflexions hoarse and odd,
But every week we hear rejoice
The Church, at being one with God.
The hippopotamus's day
Is passed in sleep; at night he hunts;
God works in a mysterious way--
The Church can sleep and feed at once.
I saw the 'potamus take wing
Ascending from the damp savannas,
And quiring angels round him sing
The praise of God, in loud hosannas.
Blood of the Lamb shall wash him clean
And him shall heavenly arms enfold,
Among the saints he shall be seen
Performing on a harp of gold.
He shall be washed as white as snow,
By all the martyr'd virgins kist,
While the True Church remains below
Wrapt in the old miasmal mist.
I love the way Eliot mocks the "True Church" in this piece...
Quotes are fun... a little snippet of someone's wit or wisdom passed on to others who can then take what meaning they want from them... a good quote can even act as guidance for life... and some are great just for a laugh...
