I enjoy exploring a range of styles within the poetic genre - both rhymed and unrhymed. Often an event - tragic, cataclysmic, inspiring, hilarious - will be the motivating influence that stirs me to write. I prefer reading poetry that is true to its roots and deplore what has happened to poetry in the past 10 years or so. I find what is often called poetry today about as interesting as yesterday's cigarette butt with none of the refinement nor skill provided by true poets of past years.
