CherrylvShow poetry

It is difficult to put into words what my style is exactly. I suppose you could say I like to experiment.
Most of my writing expresses my feelings but I have dabbled in poetry for children and have used my own poetry while teaching children. They have enjoyed it and have enjoyed writing their own.

I tend to write ideas on scraps of paper, sometimes even bus tickets. I have a tendency to wake in the night and write down ideas so I have a notepad at the side of my bed. Sometimes I find it difficult to sleep so poetry helps.

I will admit that peotry was something I felt was beyond me until I read about Viggo Mortensen. Reading his poetry and his methods inspired me to 'have a go.' I have been writing ever since and my specialism at Uni is Literature which includes poetry. This has given me an opportunity to look at others work and I must say that I was impressed with that of MacNeice.
However I will also say that it is sometimes reading unknown poets work that really impresses me.
When I have more time I look forward to reading more poetry on this site. Having feedback on my own is also very encouraging. Though I would continue to write no matter what. Writing has helped me through so many hard times over recent years that in some ways I have come to depend on it.
Sometimes is is easier to express your feelings through writing than through the spoken word.

I have been through a lot of personal sadness over recent years and have had to start my life anew. I am now a single parent, though my children are mostly grown and perhaps may not need my support for that much longer I am still very sensitive and life is still a struggle. But then I know this is the same for many out there. Life is a battle and sometimes we win, sometimes we loose. I suppose we just have to make the most of each happy moment as if it were the last and look for love wherever we can.

I am so pleased to add here that I have now returned to the church of my childhood, after talking toa wonderful priest and having him hear my confession I am now attended church regularly again, I am home.
My church is still in my heart just as my love for my Father is. I do not look to the bible for all the answers although I was brought up on it. I am adult enough to realise that it is book, a wonderful one, but still a book that was put together many centuries after my dear Lord was crucified, pages chosen by people I will never know and then translated several time over the centuries so I know that I cannot take all that is within its pages literally but having said that I look to the underlying message within those pages, the massage of faith, hope and love.
This is what I believe that a remarkable man who I also
believe was God once lived among us and gave us a message to love each other, to treat each other as we would wish to be treated and to put our faith in Him.
I try to remember these words, I do not always succeed but then I am human, it is in our nature to fail but so long as I learn then a failure can be turned into something good.

I know He is there for me always, I cannot tell you how I know and to those who do not believe in him I bear no ill will for we must all choose our own path. For me this is one of His gifts to us the freedom of choice. I do not believe that all Christians are good and all non Christians are bad. The Good Samaritan is not a thing of the past.
I pray that one day we may all live together in peace, yet I also somehow know that this may be asking too much.

Well I have rambled on enough. God Bless you all.

    Hello Love

His poetry is mentioned on loads of websites with examples. Check out google by just typing 'Viggo Mortensen poetry.'

There are so many fan bases too. The one I like best is the Viggo Mortesen fanbase, lol straight to the point :lol
There you can join in discussions about his work at

I think you will have to become a member before you post but you can browse without joining.
I used to look in on these but i never seem to have time anymore.

If you fancy buying a book you can get some good deals on his own website Percival Press:

    www.percevalpress.com/books.html - 60k

    Good luck and have fun

It was not just the words in his poems that inspired me but the words of the person himself as he was so encouraging to all who wanted to write.
I read about how he writes his own poetry by carrying a little book with him all the time and just putting lines down as they come to him. He is inspired by almost anything.

He is also an artist and mixes his paintings and poetry together to gain more effect.

I cannot say i like all his artwork but it is always interesting. His photagraphy is brilliant.

LOL i will not go on any further, you go look and have fun.
