I don't really believe in black and white(or red and blue!). For me, science, philosophy, religion, magic, and quantum physics have more in common than not. I'd like to see us appreciate and honor the differences we all have. Of course seeing as how it is only my opinion, it's really just so much nonsense anyway! So that pretty much sums me up--gray,purple, and nonsensical.

My son is being published! His poem, "Smiling Mask" is being published in a young poets' anthology. I copied the poem to show it here, but if you'd like to congratulate him or read more of his poetry, his name is Doug B.

Smiling Mask by Doug B

A young boy has a mask
that smiles for him.
Makes him appear happy,
though the boy's spirit is very restless.
He will never take this mask off.

Smiling, joking,
taking punches about his features.
It appears not to bother him,
but his smiling mask covers all.

When alone,
the wooden cover comes off,
and truth is revealed.
He looks at his reflection in a mirror.
Thinking how worthless he is.
Tear drops come to his eyes.
No wonder he was always picked on.
Not wanting to see himself,
he picks up his phone,
and throws it at the mirror.
Killing his reflection.

Ok a new update. Doug was invited to read one of his poems at a meeting of the Literary Society of Pinnacle Peak. The poem below is the one he chose, and it is to date my favorite. It was also a hit at the meeting!

Genesis by Doug B

Unorganized, loud,
instruments play,
with one wave
a baton silences them all.

It gently turns to its left,
signaling for the beautiful sounds
of violins to start plucking.
Soon viola’s jump in with
their deeper tone.
With this a picture tries to form,
yet there is something missing.

Bows racing across Cellos,
making for a deep vibration.
Violins and violas alike follow in
pursuit, creating a smoother sound.

A picture of the night sky forms overhead.
Stars racing to the song,
they accelerate their dance
as the instruments quicken their pace.

Flutes, triangles, and drums are brought in
developing an astonishing song.
Some stars slow down and match the beat
of the drums.

The picture forming above the symphony
is like no other.
Stars race, beat, and match
every instrument.

The baton slows down quieting all
but the violins, who are even slower.
The stars match the pace,
assembling together to form,

The creation of Earth.

I love this poem!!!!!

This is a haunting and sad poem by my friend, Abuyi. The link below will take you to it , if you want to check out more of his works.

iraqi boy's tale

I was crying
But no one was listening
Men of power were stealing
I cried for my dad
I cried for my mom
But all I heard was A dead mans heart
Screaming inside a bullet
Shot through the glasses
Blood FLEW ON MY eyes
And all I loved was gone forever
