Most of my work is of a genre called Performance Poetry; that is, as you would guess, poetry that is meant to be performed as a theatre piece. The challenge in writing this type of poetic monologue is to not only create a compelling scene for the actor to share with an audience, but also to write a poem that stands on its own as a sound piece of literature.
