My poetry style?
I write for myself and above all, from the heart!
I was out in the middle of a desert once, a poetic desert called life. It was just me, the poetic sand and the silence. But it ain't silent out there if you know what to listen for. I heard and read poetry out there that I ain't never read or heard before. That's intense.
Poetry's gotta live! It's gotta breathe! Because a person in a hurry starts taking shortcuts and I won't shortcut the poetry!
It's the poetry that counts. NOT THE HYPE!
It's not how many comments or how many trophies you get or even what people think!
If you can dig down deep enough inside and touch the heart with your words, people are gonna read and listen. They'll read and listen because you have something to say and not just something to show.
I have self-published two book of my poetry and am working on a third one. This one will include some special friends. I am not a grand writer by any means, but I feel that I have accomplished something with these books.
I guess, you could say I've been writing poetry for now on some twenty-five years or more. Give or take a year or two. I started writing in high school and in the years following it was kinda hit and miss. Until about six years ago, when I picked up the pen again and started writing more or less full time.
A very special person entered my life and encouraged me to write again. I always have to give her the credit for getting me in gear to pick up and start again. I've been writing every since. To date I have written around a thousand plus poems. Not all have been great ones, but hey, we can't all be on our game everyday.
I am an artist as well. I mostly do pencil portraits. But I kinda do a variety of other things there as well. T- shirts, sign painting. You name it and I've probably done it or could do it! I'm a "jackie of all trades and master of none"!
I guess, I must like variety in my life. LOL! I do like to try new things though. I am open to change. Somewhat! LOL! I like to travel and see new places. Living in Parke County, Indiana gives one the tourist bug. Since that is what this county's ecomomy is mostly built on. We are touted as the "Covered Bridge Capital of the World"! For me, once you have seen one covered bridge, you've seen them all! Every October, I am one Parke Countyian that's wants to leave this place for 10 days during the covered bridge festival. LOL! I may complain about it, but I wouldn't trade living here for the world! It's comfortable, you know!
We've taken vacations as a family to many different places; the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee, Missouri, Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Northern Indiana. Yepperz, I've seen it all! In December of 2005, the whole family went to Florida for a week over Christmas and came back New Years! What a blast we had!!
I've even been on a Cribbean Cruise. We went down to Key West, Florida and Cozumel, Mexico and recently, went one another cruise to the Bahamas. Can't wait to go again. This time take a few friends with me to share the experience. Would love to go to Gettysburg and to New Mexico where my best friend moved. Maybe some day!
