BiggusShow poetry

My name is Paul and I live and work in Woking, Surrey.
I write first and foremost for my own enjoyment and have been doing so for over 20 years.
I have tried many writing sites on for size over the years but I have found Allpoetry to be on of the best.
With so many great writers and covering a wide range of genre.
Since I first began writing I have found that people's tastes vary considerably and one mans meet is indeed another mans poison.
But I believe that you should not try to bend your work to fit but must keep faith with your own work.
I always tell new writers never to get discouraged if you get a negative response from someone, just persevere.
I once received an email from a reader on another site I contribute to that went "Please don’t submit anymore of your writing to this site as it isn’t very good and you should consider finding another hobby"
Well of course I’m broad shouldered so I ignored it and carried on regardless.
But had I not been so thick skinned I may have taken their advice and it worries me at times how many potential writers do get put off.
The thing I hate most in the world are control freaks who, not content with living their lives in a particular way try to bully and cajole the rest of us to fit into their tidy little world.

So rember this
“Illegitimus Non Carborundum"
Or
"Dont Let the Bastards Grind You Down"
