BeyondTheSurfaceShow poetry

My real name is Cassie. My friends seem to like making up weird nicknames for me however. These include Cassie Face and Prowling Penguin. I guess you can say I am just a weird person. I finally am seeing myself in a positive light. I am a former cutter, which is to say I am quitting and hope to never cut again. That is not saying that I do not have to fight back those urges anymore. To anyone who is fighting that fight- it gets easier with time to not cut or self injure.

I believe that you have to live life to its fullest because you never know when you will die. This comes from losing my 16 year cousin and then a year later almost losing my 17 year old sister. Life is not a practice. Live it.

Pretty much, the biggest thing I am learning is some people will never like you. So why change yourself for them. Be yourself and the people that are your friends will stick around. If anyone leaves- they were never your friend to begin with.

Now my poetry- it can get pretty random sometimes. I used to write when I wanted to cut, but now that those urges have gone down, I don't 'vent write' much anymore. That has (in my opinion) opened up my writing in a way. My poems are not as depressing as they used to be and I write on different topics. I find it cool sometimes.

"You're all alone running out of ways to hold onto hope and it always slips away. You're all alone, but you don't have to pretend to cope. There is a brighter way."- Kutless

"I've got a heart full of pain, head full of stress, hand full of anger, held in my chest."- Linkin Park

"Frail, the skin is dry and pale, the pain will never fail and so we go back to the remedy. Clip the wings that get you high, just leave them where they lie And tell yourself, "You'll be the death of me" "- Seether

"Have you ever felt lost inside, so unloved within that you almost died. Have you ever stepped out of the light and realized there's a stranger inside."- Shinedown

"The very worst part of you is ME."- Linkin Park

"Trust the TOAD!!!!!"- The Brother's Grimm (great random line.)

"I made the armor. It's not magic, it's just shiny"- The Brother's Grimm

"The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return."- Moulin Rouge

"One day I'll fly away, leave all this to yesterday." - Moulin Rouge

"How could we quit something we never even tried.... We built it up,to watch it fall. Like we meant nothing at all. I gave and gave the best of me, but couldn't give you what you need. You walked away, you stole my life, just to find what your looking for. But no matter how I try, I can't hate you anymore."- Nick Lachey

"She is the prom queen I'm in the marching band. She is a cheerleader I'm sitting in the stands. She gets the top bunk I'm sleeping on the floor. She's Miss America and I'm just the girl next door"- Saving Jane

"Everybody’s favorite girl doesn’t fake it anymore. I’m okay with who I am today. Everybody’s gotta change I’m just doing what I can. Could you love me anyway?" Saving Jane

"You're beautiful, just the way you are. And I love it all, every line and every scar. And I wish that I could make you see, this is where you ought to be. Come down to me." Saving Jane

"Just cause I can't go on. Just cause I die when you're gone. Just cause I think of you in bed. Don't let it go to your head. If I looked in your eyes One, two, too many times And memorized every word you said. Don't let it go to your head" Fefe Dobson

"How could you hate me when all I wanted was to be you? How could you love me when all you give me were open wounds?" Skillet

My thoughts. I don't know where they are coming from, but my church service this morning really woke something up in me...
