I'm not Beauty Sleeps because my beauty is sleeping anymore, but simply because it's too late for me to change my name now.
I haven't been writing as much lately. I think anyone who once thought of themselves as a writer can tell you that writing was a way to fill a void in their lives, to speak the words in a way that only a select few could hear.
I never considered myself great with poetry, but I've always loved writing stories. My father passed away on September 2, 2008 at the tender age of 48, and he left behind a journal for me that he had intended on writing his "life lessons" in. I was a bit disappointed to find that only the first page had any writing, but I quickly decided that I'd make the journal my own. Now, most of my writing consists of writing down the family stories, passed from my father and my mother to me, so that one day, my children can have something to remember me by.
Some of my first stories are re-tellings of fairy tales, which still capture my attention and time to this day. Someday, I intend on rewriting my story "Rose Stem" to see what would become of my favorite characters now that I'm past my teenage years.
However, once in a while, there's not enough words to make a story, just a short piece that some may call a "poem." That's when I trap it away here, just for you to read.
