A special poem

THE BEAUTIFUL FLAME
is hidden in the embers.
The promise of fire
lives in the heartwood.
Feed them oak or maple,
seasoned and hard.
The flames will finger
the wood, burn beautifully
bright. If you become
enchanted by the beauty
the heat, you will be burned.
Man the billows, as you feed
the flames and even iron
will yield. Plunge the blade
into water bright, ‘til tempered
sharp -- to the heart the sword
will slice. Ask the smithy,
the keeper of the flame.
He will tell you fire has a price.
She was born -- fire's embers
burning in her heart. Lovers
came prancing like children
playing with dancing flame,
some because of an arson’s thirst.
Beautiful -- creating on the flaming
forge or reinventing herself,
a Phoenix -- bright life
from ashes burst. Where
is the man not mesmerized
by the heat of the flames in her heart.
Birthday at hand, the candles wave --
she is more than the cake. From fury
of a firestorm to flames wrapped
around a hearth’s log warmth --
she will temper the heart of the man
be the strength of his lion’s roar,
gentle with a subtle flame when
no more is called for. He only need
pour out his love upon her shores
share in building the home
she was born to create and more.
She is as beautiful as the flame,
the love she holds and more.
