Served for 27 years in the British Army reached the rank of Warrant officer. On retirement I then worked in Mental Health in the community for 14 years. One day I was attacked by 2 youths, that night all the horrors and trauma of war, which I had managed to suppress exploded in my mind. I suffered a breakdown and was forced to retire due to ill health.
I was diagnosed with PTSD, and am receiving treatment at a centre, I go to 3 times a year. I found it very difficult to talk about my emotions and feelings so I started to put them down on paper, this then turned into poetry. I know my English and punctuation are not correct, but that which ends up on paper as a poem is from my head and heart, I write with my frustrations and emotions.
Several of my poems are about the injustices to our Ex Forces, who are living rough on the streets in poverty, many of them suffering from PTSD and have no idea how to get help.
They served and deserve a decent service from our Government.
