First off, I'd just like to say, 'dang this site!' I *wrote* a whole essay here about myself and for some reason it saved everything but this section. I mean if it's going to forget to save something, I wish it would be my typos and spelling errors, ffs. And this is supposed to be the computer age?
I'm not the type of writer who can rattle off something whenever, 'wherever, we're meant to be together.' um... ok. Something has to really strike me, or I have to be feeling some sort of intense emotion, something that I feel I will pop if I don't write down. I do write a lot about love, about feeling angsty and hurt... but my work also ofen reflects me trying to grapple with the concept. What it is and what it really means. I love music, and play music, and write music, so my influences are mainly musicians, like Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, PJ Harvey, Fiona Apple, Poe, and noisy boys like Type o negative.
I cringe at labels like, 'poet,' 'artist,' 'writer' and 'musician.' I really don't what I do is something I would peg on any one of those labels. I'm no Reiner Maria Rilke, Natascha Merrit, Linda Goodman, or Sarah McLachlan. But what I do hope, is to touch someone, anyone. I write for me, obviously because that's what I do. But I also write for you, if it's you I'm speaking to... meaning, if I touch you and you can really feel my words then I owe you a debt of gratitude.
Love,
Arian.
I'd also like to note my two favourites so far, that being the brilliant *Isi,* who has a way with words and natural rhythm to her work that just blows my mind.
The other, is *Courtneykelly45* she was one of the first poets I came across and I was really struck by her honesty, her work is quite intense, a lot of raw emotion that I really relate to.
I'm also very honoured to note that they have me as a favourite and thought I should pay them tribute and hope that, if you like my work you'd feel inclined to check out theirs (or even if you don't, do yourself a favour!)
Other faves? *BigbadMuffin* is wonderful! He writes from a urban, rap sort of perspective and I find his work so noble and touching! Then there is *B3l*... wow, very poignant writing about love, and having an old fashioned European family. Great to read!!!
I'm also a fan of *Zeke Thorne*, who somehow found me and gave me wonderful critiques. His work is definitely worth checking out.
There's also *Develon*, who introduced me to this site, is who is a lyrical genius, I love his style and rhythm, reminds me a little of Maxi Jazz from Faithless. *Penambrapoet*, whose thought provoking poems and catchy songs are certainly worth persuing.
