I have hesitated to put much on here because I believe it is better to allow your work to speak to who you are. However, as of late, I have encounntered a few people on here who have no compassion, love themselves and their writing so much that their eyes are clouded to other's. They write comments to other writers with a sharp edged sword and have no concern for the emotions or intent of the writer. These, so called writers, tend to only discourage when the entire process should be to encourage. I have over the course of years taught many writing workshops and the one absolute rule is: critique with heart. One of these peope I speak of even claims to be a minister... I believe he is a minister of gloom for he very well could, with his words, send an honest poem into such depression that they could follow through on some of the themes of their work. I have read his work, and it is not inspired nor is it all that good but rather than write that to him I simply did not write anything at all.
So all I am saying is, if you have taken the time to read this, please consider each poem you read as worthy of the writer. It may not be the style you like, it may be a theme that everyone has written about but in the end it is the creation of the writer... do not discourage that process.
There is no other group of people in the world that I would rather be associated with than writers... Real ones
