I hope my poetry will be
a mirror of my heart.
I will write what I see
around me,
I am a guard
of happiness and joy,
averting sorrow and pain.
I hope it won't destroy
your dream.
Let that remain!

Anna Emkah.

My favorite poem:

Sonnet XLIII: How Do I Love Thee?

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806-1861)

SOLITUDE

Here I am
in a wild blue yonder,
surrounded
by vast barren land
of saffron sand.

Lack of moisture.
My last tears were shed
when you left me.

Now unproductive,
derelict and desiccated.
The red-hot sun
slowly cremates me.

Your return
will make no difference,
it's too late
to quench my thirst.

Soon
the sun melts away
and makes room
for the night.

AWARENESS

the peace and silence
of dawn
disappears
with morning mist
when
men and motorcars
move mystery
into reality

at this moment
I become aware:
I'm alive!

CAPTIVATED

At midnight,
my magical moment
with you
under the mistletoe,
mesmerizes my emotions
mechanically
into many
miraculous melodies.

OLD AND BEAUTIFUL

It’s autumn.
Sitting in front of the window,
she contemplates her past.

She's getting old.
Like the leaves
fall from the trees,
she is losing her grey hair
and her skin,
once smooth like a peach,
now resembles a dried apple.
Yet,
the little wrinkles
at both sides of her eyes
and around her mouth
give away her ready smile.

Despite her aged features
she looks beautiful.
In her eyes you notice
her inner beauty:
gratefulness and delight.

AT THE OTHER SIDE

Gliding over the rainbow,
I meet you at the other side;
passing countries and oceans,
no matter what's the tide.

My messages fly through the air,
taking cold and snow along,
bringing lots of warmth in return,
sunshine and a happy song.

We are antipoles, you and I,
but we click like magnets do.
Gliding through all the different hues,
love floats from me to you!

ADONIS

In the early morning
my heart is set on fire.

Radiant sunbeams
touch my skin
and warm my soul.

Butterflies and love
are in the air all day...

till my Adonis hides himself
behind the mountain top,
quenching my fire and
disappearing into the night.

DAWN IN DECEMBER

Serene silence salutes me
this mysterious morning,
while I watch the world
from my window.

A blue baldachin
balances over a white fleece;
clouds copy themselves
upon the frozen lake.

Mistletoes are masked
with white furs
and feathery flakes fall
from the firmament.

Trees stand decorated
with crystal cones
sparkling in the rising sun
like huge diamonds.

I enjoy this frosty fairyland
of ice and snow in the sun,
till their enchantment
is warmly washed out.

ONLY FOOLS

Can’t you see
I love you?

Only fools
have to write it
on every wall.
