Life has been making demands on me this year. I haven't had the muse to write poetry since this spring. This has been a rough summer with my Dad being in and out of the hospital enough times that they should name a wing after him to some personal business which has caused heartache and medication changes. I do check in here on a fairly regular basis. I am hoping that the excitement will settle down by the new year.
I am a mother, lover, housewife, daughter, sister, volunteer, role-playing gamer, anime/manga lover, artist, jewelry maker, disabled person. I am a Witch. Amythest Moonjade is my Wicca name and I wear it proudly. I love Science Fiction, Fantasy, Biographies, Auto-Biographies, and some fiction. I write mostly sci-fi based poetry, (which seems to be falling by the way side here) although I do some fantasy and personal (isn't all poetry personal on some level?). I also write Sci-Fi and Fantasy stories (working on the ever growing novel ) I have a B.A. in Medieval History and a Minor in Religious Studies and could get another Minor in Theater. I've been a paid comedian and thespian. I use to play 2 instruments (e-flat clarinet (I know, I hadn't heard of one until or since I played mine)) and the flute. My daughter is also a poetess(Tamaska Forsaken-) and musician (much better musician than me).
I use to raise cockatiels (12 years worth of hand-feeding chicks). I adore West Highland White terriers. I used to be owned by one. I am also passionate about Penguins (Rock Hoppers are my favorites, I was a docent at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, Colorado). When I was younger I took care of horses at a local stable, of course, I also love horses.
I don't normally like the practice of placing songs on Author's Pages, it just clutters them up (it's not as if MINE'S uncluttered mind you ), but I will place this one. It holds special meaning to me. When I was in the pit of depression and after a suicide attempt, an uncle gave me a musical unicorn. It played this song. I have since taken it as my philosophy of life.
Impossible Dream
From the musical
"Man of La Mancha"
"To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go
To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star
This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far
To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause
And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest
And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star."
I am currently "owned" by two cockatiels--Pippin {a little grey girl} (it is with a heavy heart I must report the demise of our fair Arwen and Little Bird, They brought joy and laughter to all of us) and in a moment of sheer insanity, I am pleased to announce a new addition to the family, Tai (a very handsome white-faced young man}who has only one eye, a husband and daughter, although some days I doubt the sanity of any of these decisions.

Amethyst MoonJade
Amethyst Moonjade is a Pixie Faerie elemental and an enchantress of desire.
My dear you have within you compassion as well as passionate fire
Yet most must wait for dreams to relax their eyes to dreams.
Then, your magic unfolds upon them filling their tender souls to reams.
Her Majesty is an apt name for you whom suckle us Sprites.
Even as what you do for dreamers makes us blush upon sight.
Souls you recall to help you heal the hearts of your friends
To which charity, you contribute with your own self you don't defend.
My lady of the shade whose silhouette enchants below the silver moon.
Oh, let us Pixie Faeries learn your magic to make lovers swoon.
Our needs to learn is preceded by how you yearn to teach.
Not everyone knows how to chant or when to magic speak.
Just peeking as we, Pixies, must always do, I saw you bloom
And climb from a roses stem with fragrance like sweet tart perfume.
Dare we hear you near our ears planting love all our fears
Even then we know your power grows from your heart so dear.
