The name is Loretta.
I'm not sure how to really "describe" myself without sounding insanely boring. I'm only 18. There isn't anything particularly interesting about someone who's only been alive since '91. I mean, really.
But I will write... something. Whatever comes to my brain, I guess. That seems to be how I work.
I'm a chick. A woman. A lady. A broad... A female-type person.
I consider myself to be well aware of the world around me and, unfortunately, that includes being aware of all the bad things in the world around me. Which is one of the main topics of my writing.
Or, at least it was until I got some major writer's block and abandoned this site for almost 2 years (except to add the occasional shitty poem) because of said writer's block.
But I'm slowly starting to break through the barrier and am now trying to write once again. Hopefully, it doesn't all turn out to be complete... well, you know
I'd like to get a few more things out in the open: #1 I am a feminist. I think I always have been, even when I was a little kid and didn't even know what feminism was. I'd like to clear up a couple misconceptions about feminism, though. Or, at least, my type of feminism.
I'm not at all "anti-male" or "anti-sex" or any such bullshit. Nor am I anti-porn or overly PC. Because porn is awesome and cracking offensive jokes is fun (as long as they're not, like, outright cruel, or anything).
I also happen to be an atheist. If you ask why, or try to convert me, I will ignore you. So don't even try
(this may be a shocker to some since, the last time I was using this site, I was a total fundie). Yes, I am a godless, heathen slut and I am damn proud of it.
What else can I say? Well, I am a pretty huge metalhead (METAL! FUCK YEAH!)
I'm also quite... kinky
and I may be bringing that into my writing quite soon, so stay on the look out!

------
P.S: I've noticed that there seem to be very few "out" pro-choice people on this site. I've also noticed that there are groups and many poems dedicated to the "evils" of abortion, but there seem to be none (or very few) dedicated to how important, and often life-saving, abortion care is for women. I don't see many women being open about their experiences and I think that is sad, especially on a site dedicated to poetry, where we should all feel free to open up.
Well, I hope I don't get flamed for this, but I am one of those pro-choice women who values the fact that she has the choice to become a mother when she is ready, and not before. I understand that abortion is an expensive, invasive procedure that is very controversial but it is, indeed, necessary. It is necessary that ALL women have autonomy over their own bodies. If we do not have this control over OUR OWN DAMN BODIES then we have NOTHING and I find it sad that so many people seem to care more for the life of a fetus than for the life of the woman carrying it. The woman becomes just an incubator, an object to control. Then, once the pregnancy is taken to term and the baby is born, she is left to take care of that baby whether she is ready and able or not... and without any help from the people who cry "murderer!" outside of clinics and from behind their computer screens, and without help from those who "simply care for the life of the precious babies".
There's nothing "pro-life" about that, and I'd rather have Planned Parenthood by my side than be left alone and scared, with nothing but a wire hanger.
Thank you.
