"Now it's time for a little Braggadocio
While I swing my arms like Ralph Macchio!"

--MC Fontalot (Song: Braggadocio)

"You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
If this predicament seems particularly cruel,
consider whose fault it could be:
not a torch or a match in your inventory."

--MC Frontalot (It Is Pitch Dark)

""No man is invicible, no man foolproof
But keep in mind, we're rocking under the same roof!
Bass fire's
Gonna take you higher!"

"Actions have reactions, so don't be quick to judge, yeah!""

--Scooter (Like Hypa Says)

A hundred boats battle the current
Eagles strike at the endless void
Fish hover in the shallow bottoms,
All creatures strive for freedom under the frosty sky
Baffled by this immensity,
I ask the vast expanse of earth,
Who, then, controls the rise and fall of fortunes?

---Mao Zedong

(The above is posted because I like the imagery...Especially the first 3 lines )

The below is a classic, beautiful poem written in the Villanelle style:

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learned, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

---Dylan Thomas (1951)

I like rhyme, meter and form poetry--preferably combined. But the real reason I write and read poetry is the fact that you can take words and create pictures of simple beauty, or complex hate. Pictures of passion, laughter, sadness, fear, safety, anguish, whatever--with just words. So, I may not be good at free-verse, blank verse, whatever, but I like to read it--if it's good and uses beautiful words in a beautiful way.

Really, though, I'm not picky--so if you'd like me to read something you've written, go ahead and send me a note (I'm on here practically all the time )

Okay, how about music?

I love techno/trance music.
I think Rammstein (which is a German Industrial band) sounds really awesome (even though I can't understand German).
I listen to Nerdcore (nerdy rap, yep that's what it is) when I want to laugh.
I listen to classical music if I want to be inspired to write.
I listen to classic rock if I want to zone out.
I listen to my brother's play list when I want to find another band/genre to listen to

How about books?

I'm not into Twilight--but if you are, I won't bash you!
I love Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
I like the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever (Stephen R. Donaldson)
Edger Allen Poe's Annabelle Lee always makes me want to cry.
H P Lovecraft scares the daylights out of me.
Dracula (the Original Book by Bram Stoker) does the same thing. I don't like
reading it at night. hehe.

I love reading anything having to do with history--preferably Russian, or anything having to do with the British Navy. My ultimate goal is to get a Ph.D in History--and to go to Cambridge, UK to study.

How about the way I write?

Well, I already said I like form/meter/rhyme poetry. Some might think that those realms of writing are limited and confining--but they're not, really, and there's so many different forms of each to try that it can be really challenging.

But...

I am not above trying blank/free verse. I lay no claims to having any sort of talent at it, but I will try it... once in a while.

Oh, yes, and I like to write prose. Short, descriptive, poetry prose--and long-winded stories that never seem to get done, also (although I haven't posted any non-poetry stories on here...yet...)

And that's about it.

I have no AP family, but that doesn't mean I don't want one. If you think you might like me in yours, send a message/note
